Hiya Chaps,

I hope you are all well.

Just popped in to say I had possibly one of the best parties ever yesterday :D

It was almost in Bournemouth (Ringwood) for an 8yr old.

236 mile round trip was it worth it - God yes, picked up several enquiries but the thing that suprised a lot of the adults was how come I travel so far to do a Children's party
(in fact it took longer to get there than it did to do the party  lol)

But it was fantastic, and the thing that was mentioned to me was how different my show was to the standard disco's that the children have had in the past.

So my advice chaps is - If you do Children's Parties "Be Different"

Have a good Sunday

Mayhem, I have suspected this for a long time, but now there is concrete proof that you are certifiable! :D :D

As someone who does such functions with one eye on the clock, and the thought that within 30 minutes I can be partaking of some well earned muscle relaxant, all I can say is:

If I'm ever in your area, I'd love to see you work. :D

I love doing kids parties but sometimes find the financial rewards do not justify the work and effort needed. A 2 hour kids party, i find, is harder than a 5 hour disco and not sure about everyone else but find I have to charge minimum amounts.

Like you though Mayhem I find whenever I do a kids party I get other enquiries, one of which led to a good residency in a hotel near home.

I agree with you though you have to 'be different'. I have a grand finale which always gets commented on and generates more bookings

Hi Mayhem, commitment or what!!! Glad you had a great one!!

I have never done kids parties under the age of 14. I'm always being asked to do them but feel it is a specialised service I know nothing about. I believe very strongly that if you can't do it right then don't do it at all.

I would love to know what makes your show/performance different from the others. This is something I'd like to get into but wont unless I am sure I can do it well.

Any advice welcome from you (the master) or any others that do kids parties. What can you charge for these gigs? :)

I have fallen on a winner too:cool: , did a 13 year olds gig in December last year, since then have done 3 more at the same venue for her friends, and have another 7 coming up, (all class mates), great when a plan comes together;) . Though I will never reach the high standards of mayhem who, going by his posts, pics and vids is a highly professional entertainer, and whats more the public realise this too, well done that man.:beer1: :beer1: :beer1:

I think most people on here would do a fine and professional job but most of us don't feel the need to post about it, so we get lots of others saying how grreat we are...:sj:

But as I was told last week...you ARE the king of sarcasm (which I am still trying to get used to so apologies) so I guess you were joking yeah?

Not nasty. I know and have met Garry before and have also seen him work, and yes he does the job well, but he does like blowing his own trumpet quite a lot. ;)

Ok...sorry...no offence!

I don't post on here as often as other people so I am still getting to grips with how some of you tick. I'll get there someday.

I am sarcastic, but those who know me, also know that I go out of my way for others and that I am passionate about this industry and furthering the careers of DJs and the publics perception of us as an industry.

I can be a miserable sod too. Anyone noticed that? :D :D :D

I am very sorry to have posted my thread Darren,

I only did it because I had such a great time and I wanted to share it with my fellow DJs.

I apologise mate and say that it will not happen again.

Being a member of this forum is great and I do not want to do anything that might compromise it so I will not post anything more about my parties.

Sorry again.

Come on Garry - there's no need for apolgies and you haven't done anything to compromise your membership here or done anything wrong.

When you run a forum like this, you do happen to notice certain things and the people that run this forum just noticed that a lot of threads you start are about what a great night you had, which is fine and all good, but all I am saying is that I'm sure a lot of people have great nights but don't always feel the need to post about them.

Hiya Darren,

Point taken mate.

Would it not be an idea to have a thread where folks could post reports of their parties and events??

Have a good day.

Well i say Well Done that man!!!

Not many of us would travel that far for such a short disco i think this goes to show how determined this man is. i bet the price he charged wasn't as much as allot of us would want to travel that far.

Good to see your still going strong Mr Mayhem. Are you working at Brean again this year mate???

Sounds like a good idea to me. When you come back from an unusually good gig it IS nice to be able to share it. Like wise there are lots of threads on this forum about disasters that have befallen dj's and want to share it. Isnt that part of what the forum is about?

Hiya Spud,

Thanks for the kind words mate.

Brean 2008, now there is a question buddy

At the moment everything is on hold until my claim against them is sorted by the end of April. Also easter week end would have come and gone giving brean management time to reflect on the huge mistake they have made by "Re Branding" my Family Room with their clown acts

I have lost count of the number of people who have cancelled because I am not there yet!!!

Time will tell mate, I will of course keep you posted buddy.

This is the first I've heard of this:eek:

Whats this claim against them all about???

They've replaced you??? with clowns!!! what a mistake...
Sorry as much as i love Brean Leisure Park but that will never work. Half of children are scared of clowns and they don't get the children involved as much as you used to when i seen you (back in the day). i really can't see this working at all. they will lose allot of customers by doing this.
I wouldn't be surprised if all the families go along the road to The Seagull Inn as they also do family entertainment early in the evenings with adult entertainment after.

I hope they see the mistake they have made and get you back on board soon.
If you get back in Brean I'll try and pop down to see you again so keep me posted:D .
