Hi all,

I am looking for some technical advice with regards making a Light Screen (Yeah I know, I have read the threads!! You all hate them).

I have a "Light Unit" that was originally a training aid for an Army Radio System. it comprises of Red Yellow and Green lights, with more Red than Green. (10 Red, 5 Yellow and 5 Green) So looking to split the Red into 2 x 5.

A friend of mine has given me a '4 channel chaser' with Bulgin connector Leads.

All I need now is a wiring diagram! Help.

Looking to mount this light box in the Troop Bar as a Piece of Memorabilia.

Thanks in advance for any help sent.

Regards

First of all. We don't all hate them i still use them:)

Would think it's a simple job of just rewiring the cables from each lamp to the correct output on the bulgin socket, then changing the colour of the lamps but I'm sure someone else on here can give you more information.

Better follow the advice of someone who knows what there doing:eek:

:) Thanks Spud.

Are the lamps wired in Series or Parallel? I am lucky as the 'front screen' is already like a light screen. Will try to post a picture, so normal (Clear) bulbs will be OK I guess.

I will need to check the number of bulbs and also need to seek advice as to the wattage of the bulbs against the output of the 4 channel chaser.

Do you know the pin outs for the connector?

Do you know the pin outs for the connector?

If it's a standard round Bulgin then....

1-4 are lives chanells 1-4, 5 isn't normally used, 6&7 are neutral (often linked together) and 8 (centre pin) is earth. Pins are usually marked with numbers.

If not ....here goes :D

.......4
....5....3
...6..8...2
....7....1

as you look at the back of the plug i.e.lid off.

I'm sure somebody posted actual diagrams when Creature was renovating his boxes.

All,

Many thanks for the replies and information. I also am looking for knowledge on how to wire up the inside.

Currently, I have all the lights controlled individually by an external switch box.

Do I wire the sets of bulbs in series or in parallel?

Regards

Ignore me I'm going daft:o I was right with the wiring order, just need to add 1 to the pin number:o
That'll teach me not to double check first:o :o :o

With regards to series/parallel, if they are all 240v lamps, then parallel.
If not you could do series 'till they add up to 240v.
