Hi there,

I was wondering if it is possible to mount a small 15" LCD Monitor onto my Giraffe Stand?

It would need to be on the top cross bar and would need to be viewed at an angle so that it can viewed easily.

I'm not an engineer so it's a bit of a fuddle to me.

I guess some people are going to ask why mount a screen at all, well it's an experiment to see if I can get away with one screen to do video advertising on, or at a push, Karaoke in smaller venues.

This is the exisiting mount on the back of the LCD screen.

Thanks

I'm sure VV will be along shortly. He's done something similar to his set up. Check out his new thread in the Gallery section!

Maybe you could get a steel rod the diameter of the holes in the bracket, Put that through there, Drill A hole in the centre of the rob and attatch a G clamp with a long nut and bolt?

Just an idea.
I am sure VecticsVibe will have a better suggestion.

How is that bracket attached?

Screw/m8/m6 bolt

Screw/m8/m6 bolt

Its a large bolt that goes through the casing and I'm guessing there is a metal template on the other side.

I know one thing its in tight, as I couldn't shift it! :bang:

The holes in the bracket are 15mm diameter. Maybe a Bolt would do, drilled through the cente and a long reach g clamp? Just worried if I drill a hole it would weaken the fixing??

Even so I think it would still need safety wires, just in case!

Cheapest way might be something like this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LCD-TV-WALL-MOUNT-VESA-75MM-100MM-15-17-19_W0QQitemZ230293953611QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item23 0293953611&_trkparms=72%3A1300%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C 240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Take the VESA mount bit off and discard, then bolt the wall bracket to a length of 20mm square tube which you can then drill for mounting on top of the giraffe (assuming you've got one of those 'top hat' things for the giraffe for mounting a single effect at the top of the pole?). The knuckle could then go through your bracket assuming the thread is long enough (if not, it might be possible to extend). Lots of homework required before splashing the cash.

To be honest, for the price of a new LCD with a VESA mount you could do this a lot more succinctly for not a lot more cash (certainly a lot less aggro). CPC usually have some cheap floor-standing VESA LCD mounts around the £10-15 mark.

Vectisvibe, thanks for your help,

Did you mean forget trying to mount on the T-bar altogether and opt for a floor standing support such as:

http://cpc.farnell.com/ST01159/audio-video-tv/product.us0?sku=pro-signal-st01159

I havent a clue by what you mean about:

(assuming you've got one of those 'top hat' things for the giraffe for mounting a single effect at the top of the pole?)

I have two top top bars joined by a 25 mm bracket/sheath that slips over the two pieces in the middle and then two bolts pass through and hold the thing rigid, making one complete horizontal top bar.

Might be just as easy to opt for two cheap 15 inch lcds with floor mounts, one either side for effect.

I thought one LCD screen would look out of place on the side, hence hanging it in the middle of the top bar.

Any more info appreciated.

BTW I did consider those off fleabay, and didn't think to turn the bracket round on the back of the LCD screen! duh! :bang:

Just found this on fleabay. I could mount it upside down so long as I had a good height on the Top Bar: lol

You have probably realised I'm dangerous when I think! :D Any thoughts>?

The Giraffe thingy I referred to was this:

Personally I wouldn't use a floor-standing pole as that's asking for trouble but yes, they're the ones I mean... they're often in the CPC clearance catalogue for a lot less money.

See pic 5 here: http://www.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=14937

The bolt securing the ultimax collar to the 20mm tube can be removed and then the bracket can be hung from an overhead bar using one of the standard holes. But this does need a monitor with a VESA mount. The grey brackets I use are pretty low profile and are tiltable, and I think they were about £7 each.

 Mine do

Must be talking about different stands.

Ah well, second part of the advice still counts.

Now imagine it with the ultimax collar removed.

Cut and drill a length of 20mm steel tube (B+Q do it for about £5 for 2m) and fix to the bottom of the overhead bar with the existing bolts/wingnuts. Now drill them through the OTHER way to fit the VESA bracket. Job done and all for about £20 (plus monitors!!).

Looky here, 2nd row down, middle picture to see how it'll look:

Callum might recognise 4 of the lights ;)

Hi,

decided to heed your advice VV and buy two new monitors - although I have opted for 17" as opposed to 19" Widescreen, as I think 19" would dominate my small stand to much.

These seem ok for the clamps:

http://www.skytronic.co.uk/rsc/img/100/180892.jpg

the price of these vary from £16 to £20.

Was wondering if you could point me in the right direction for the LCD mounting brackets...Flush Mount? sliding? etc etc...

Thanks for your help.
