Recently found this neat bit of software - and it's FREE.

Worked great for me, normalised all my tracks to the same level with only a few errors (currupt files I think).

Anyway, just thought I'd share my find...:)

I hate to break this to you but a lot of us on here have been using MP3Gain for years, there are several threads on it already.

Speak for yourself Steve :p ;) :D

I generally use Media Monkey to normalize my tracks but it takes quite a while. Is this any quicker? I may give it a go.

One useful thing that Media Monkey does is a full track list in MS Excel (or whatever you choose) including all fields at the click of a button. I currently use this feature to check my (mostly incorrect) genre tags.

It isn't very quick, but I found it didn't need me to constantantly look over it. Press the analise tracks button, go an do the shopping via the pub, on returning press the track gain button, back to the pub - rude not to.

Seemed to do a good job, I confess I haven't listened to EVERY track - but so far so good.

Cheers :beer1:

You don't really need to analyze the tracks first, just set the gain & check out any problem tracks after it's done. Saves a lot of time.

What's the best setting for the gain? I would assume it's 0?

I use 90 & haven't had any major bother.

Is there a reason why you take it up once notch from the default 89?

Me being daft me just went for the default value, as I say seems fine. But if there is a sound (pardon the pun) reason for going higher i'll definatly heed your advise oh great one .

It's louder :sj:

Just something I read on (I think) the Denon forum most of them seemed to use 90 with no problems.

I thought you could at least have thought up some really believable technical reason to dumbfound me with (easy done by the way)..
