Darren, yes the photography industry does have a lot of cowboys also, in fact I would say more so than this industry.

Photography is what I am trained in and I must say things are ok but everyone knows someone with a digital camera who 'takes good pictures'.

Really?
I thought there would be more chance of 'cowboy' and 'amateur' photographers than dj's, mainly due to the smaller equipment outlay.

Obviously (you'd hope) pro's will buy pro gear whereas a few hundred quid will buy an average camera. Unfortunately a lot of clients won't realise until the crappy photo's come back. :(

Yes there are as many cowboys here as anywhere else! My equipment costs in the range of £8000 for what I use at the moment at a standard event!
