They look very good but seem quite expensive, I think you could get something as good for £1,000 or less :)

I think if you are spending that much money, the RCF 525a (http://www.absolutemusic.co.uk/shop/view_product.php?product=rcfart525a) is worth looking at. Very highly powered and very light too.

That's more like it but I still think the RCF would be a better choice.

And the price for the original pair mentioned was £1600 which when you are talking that much money is not a lot of difference.

An even better alternative, bearing the original spec in mind, would be the RCF Art 522a. Should be able to get a pair for just over £1500

You know full well a Yorkshireman is simply a Scotsman with all the generosity removed.

I have decided not to go with the QSC.

im either going to get another db sub for bigger events as present i only have 2 basics 400 and sub.

Or going to get new tops been looking at the FBT maXX 40a's pricey i know but meant to be very good.

the spec sheets I googled for the Mackies read 124 db/1m and the RCF 131db

Nah, horses mouth is best -
www.mackie.com - 127db
www.fbt.it - 127db

I agree the RCF 525a and 725a are 131db but they weren't being discussed

The SRM450v2 will do 127db for short bursts i.e. peak transients.
The long term peak output is 124db
Straight from the horse's mouth. Phil

RCF quote just one measurement at 1m.

Read the post again Phil, the 525a was being discussed on this thread, Daz introduced it to the discussion in post #3

£2000 worth of Class-D would make even my thinning locks flap in the breeze, for sustained periods. Granted you'd need a BIG old van............................................... ....... :sofa:

Now you see why I was confused. The conversation was about QSCs and then Davey said he was abandoning them for FBTs, I compared them with Mackies and you said they were 7db louder. :daft:

However, you have taught me a valuable lesson and that is to read the detailed specs on a web site rather than the summary!
