Im looking for an audio splitter box that has XLR connectors (balanced), so i can have my main and backup mixer wired into it, and the leads running out of it to the active speakers. That way, if my main mixer dies, i switch on my backup and keep going. Minimal disruption. I cant find anything that useful, and am seriously contemplation a visit to Terralec and Maplin and making my own up.

Any help on where i can get one would be appreciated.

PS, splitter leads would also be useable, but the search is also fruitless :bang:

Couple of these (http://www.thomann.de/gb/palmer_pan_05.htm) would do it? One for left, one for right?

Not sniffed around for a stereo version...

Cheers Martin, found something similar on google. Works out at aprox £60, was wondering of there was anything cheaper on the market. Im tinking of getting a box off maplin and the chassis connectors from Terralec and making my own up if i cant find anything cheaper.

Don't think it's a simple case of wiring... there's probably optical isolation in the commercial products. You wouldn't want a downstream surge or short affecting both mixers would you?

For the sort of money involved, I think I could live with the 60 seconds of slow handclapping that would ensue if I needed to repatch, which is my present backup :o

I think that i may get one of the local sound guys i know to knock one up. They constantly rewire one of the local clubs.

You need a Formula Sound Shadow, Steve.
Does exactly what you are trying to achieve.
Great little bit of kit in 1U

I know, one of the pubs had one, but £399 is a bit steep, imo. Ive got one of these: http://www.htfr.com/more-info/MR261881 but its older (badged as Monacor) but works perfectly.

They're in the CPC Catalogue, but I can't find them on the World's Most Useless Website! :bang:
