I have done a search on this forum and could not find anything.

Can anybody recommend some music management / mixing software for the Mac? (OSX 10.5.6)

I have tried a few and am settling for djay unless somebody can direct me to something better?? http://www.djay-software.com/

Many thanks!!! (again) :beer1:

I would suggest looking at MegaSeg (http://www.megaseg.com/) and Ableton Live (http://www.ableton.com/), although the later is far more than just play out software.

Depends what you need.

If it's just playout, DJ1800 is fabulous. 4 decks to go at, too :D

My only bugbear is it doesn't fit too well on the 13" Macbook screen; you'd need a 15" plus.

I am downloading and will have a play - Many Thanks!

Tho Ableton Live looks more creative than I am :o)

I have a 15" :Censored: but suspect not enouth brain power for 4 decks :bang:

I don't use it live very often as I prefer my d2, but when I do, I tend to use just two decks but keep backup tracks cued on 3&4 just in case. Or, if there's a soundbite you might need (such as "happy birthday to you") stick it on deck 3 so it doesn't interrupt your flow on 1&2.

Traktor Pro or Serato probably the top two packages out there.

have been playing with dj-1800 very good just far more things on it than i would ever use.
bought a copy of djay from the apple shop yesterday very simple and easy to use.
my only problem now is finding some software to do the karaoke side of things at the moment i use karma to play zipped mp3+g files,so if anybody knows of anything similar for the mac maybe you could point me in the right direction.then i can ditch the pc.

SERATO.

Does wonders, but you need the hardware. software free.

I converted the cd tracks (to be used on cd decks) to mp3 and use them on my dnhd2500 as a controller so i can use it in pc mode which helps for download requests etc. and normal mode (memory sticks) at the same time.

Totally agree> I am MAC based and run Serato. If you have got all of your music on iTunes you can transfer straight across and it copies all of your playlists etc so there is no need to make new crates etc. SSL (serato Stratch Live) 3 has just come out as well now with some additional bells and whistles, which allow you to record your sets and also record off of Vinyl straight into MP3 (if you are as old as me and still have a lot of tracks not converted from Vinyl!!!!)

The software hasn't, the only difference between SSL 1 & SSL 3 is the audio interface.
The software has not changed, both run the same software. 1.8.3 is the current version, with 1.9 being used in beta until the official launch date for it.

I am sorry guys, I have had a look at the various software suggested, and it is all very complicated and I believe above what I am looking to do.

I am not a clubbing DJ and just want to play my basic music, if and when I do want to create, I would happily use garageband to splice some loops, and pre create.

For now I will keep to djay (£40 Apple, £30 Amazon) but have another play with the other software as and when I fully get back into things again.... but thank you all for raising awareness of all this Apple compatible software that I was not aware of!
