Which part of "Very" would you be struggling with, Tony? :D :D
Also, how's your back, and how big is your Van/Car/Trailer/Rickshaw/Other Transport Device?

BTW. technically, this should be in Technical help, in the Sound Forum. ;)

The thread was called "wanted speakers" so I thought the op was looking to buy a pair of speakers.

I think it's ok to buy stuff in the this section of the forum but not sell as anyone can sell stuff, which would clog up the forum. How to the admin and mods think of that??? I had a read through the rules in the section and its about selling from what I can see, but having said that, I am blind as a bat sometimes. lol.

I was aware you had to be a member of 3 months and also have a minimum of 100 posts.

If that is the case, then I will deleate my post. :)

a nice sounding budget speaker really.

Mark - budget will always compromise quality. However,
there are reasonable sounding budget speakers out there (JBL JRX series springs to mind). Whilst I wouldn't personally say they are "nice" sounding (to my fussy old ears), equally I wouldn't say they sound unpleasant.

Choosing speakers is like choosing food, wine & women - it's a very individual & personal thing. Having said that, at the extremeties of the spectrum, most people would probably agree a Maplin box sounds pretty dire and I've yet to meet anyone whom hates Meyer. Get my drift?

what s your problem with peavey??

My ears react badly to them, causing uncontrollable vomiting ;)

I intended to seek medical assistance, however upon googling the cause and symptoms, I discovered mine to be a fairly common condition amongst people whom work with sound. It is quite well documented on BR, PSW, et al. :)

There isn't a list of the equipment used.
They are far from professional if you ask me, Cheap budget cabs that are being used, Some of the pictures in the gallery are not using decent power distrobution on the lighting stands just 4 way extensions simply "Dangling".

He always refers to his staff as "Tech Monkeys".

I would advise take a look at JamesH's website or Tony (A1DL). They are well established hire companys running on a full time basis.

Well I have never seen any evidence on the site about him having 10k of sound. If he does the "big" parks I take it he has a line array system then?

Cj_The_Dj

Ive seen him use something similar but some times he just uses some big peavey stacks with 18 subs (but the normal black widow ones) etc

I'm sure Tony (A1DL) will agree, This isn't an outdoor PA system for a "Big" park.

Thankfully not. The market these cheapo line arrays appeal to, are in the main people whom buy just 2 or 3 tops per side, thus losing the flying benefits and severly compromising the vertical dispertion, particularly at the higher frequencies. Often this sort of kit is seen in groundstacked configurations of 2 or 3 boxes above one sub - why bother? Point source would sound so much better.

Don't think you can compare that stuff to 12/16 box hangs of J or vdosc, it's Fiat vs. Ferrari.

Anyway, I wonder how long it will be before Soundlab or Maplin launch a line array? After all, it's the in thing to have, all "proper" sound companies must have one.

Sorry if you thought I was getting at you - I wasn't.

10,000 watts is commonly referred to as 10k
That's besides the point...
The point is you can't "hear" watts
In simplest terms - the number of watts is the INPUT power a speaker uses to make a sound and that sound is measured in decibels.

Like a car may use 1 gallon of fuel to travel 30 miles with 2 passengers, a loudspeaker may use 400 watts of fuel to produce 130 decibels of sound at one metre.

well he used 5 Pv-2000 running at 2 ohms (i know some people say this is bad but Ive never done it so unsure) @ 1000w rms a side each amp = 5000w rms a side for the stack.

im not sure what the spl or desibles were.
