give us a ballpark budget figure Mark!

What typical crowd size are you thinking about?

My best suggestion would have a price tag of around £700, for new. You could shave it to £600 by changing the tops, or £500 by upgrading the tops and losing the subs. All depends what we're working with.

If you purchase active speakers, it eliminates the need to buy an amplifier.

Mackie, JBL, QSC and Crown are well known decent makes to go for.

But, what comes with that is a fairly high price tag.

What budget do you have in mind Mark?

The OP asked for amps & speakers, not all in ones.

Will you please stop posting pointless crap Max, it's getting tiresome.

If you have a small system good enough for most of your normal gigs then go and hire--its pointless buying new equipment for one bigger gig.

Otherwise have a look here for good value products if the budget is tight;)
