View Full Version : Making Your Own Led Lights

Just wondered if anyone has ever made or thought of making their own LED lights?

If so, does anyone have any wiring diagrams or advice?

I can get the casings made very competitively, so any advice on the electrical side greatly appreciated.

I've been thinking about it, but came to the conclusion that building something that could handle DMX, Sound to light, and have reasonable built in programs would be too much like hard work, so I've been working on converting standard Halogen fixtures to use a single LED source instead (which in a way is alot harder than using multiple LED light sources (like LED Par cans for instance).

See http://www.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=20040 for my "progress" so far ;)

Bearing in mind the cost, the time involved & the fact that the final results would largely be a matter of trial & error, surely it's better to just go out & buy a professionally designed & made LED light off the shelf, especially as they are so cheap.

Well if you like doing it then thats a plus side and if it goes wrong then you know how it works and be able to fix it.

cheers all,

im doing it (or thinking of) as part as an engineering qualification, and one of the lads has offered to make the casings for free - just thought itd be a nice and useful project.
