Stephen - you will get a better response if you provide some indication of your budget, as there are a whole host options from a £50 Craplins DJ Pro Special, up to a £1,500 modular Formula Sound offering - and plenty in between!

This can have a mic on every channel, FX for karaoke, but no USB input, so you'd be on headphone output, or external soundcard.

This has twin USB inputs, but no FX, which is not ideal for karaoke.

I've used this for karaoke, but reliability of the tone circuits can be an issue. ( shame, cos I really loved it. :( :( :( :( )

2 mic channels plus FX

Certain pieces of kit are major league,Allen and Heath for example in the mixer department. Darren has a Pioneer which is another one in the top bracket. They sound superb, have all the facilities you need, and last for ever. You tend to find the faders run like they were on ball bearings, and don't get scratchy. The Urei mixers are also in this bracket.

.........and the EQs on the Urei's are soooooo smooth, with a frequency sweep more like filters than EQs, they are awesome to use.

£50 Craplins

:Stop: I Sincerely hope you don't mean Maplins

They are a decent Electronics store, and just happen to sell entry and mid range level Disco Equipment.

After reading this comment I had to check the strength of the can of beer I was drinking! I thought I must have picked up continental-strength booze instead of my usual 4.5% McEwans Export! :p

It might work, but it is not mid level Max.

Nothing wrong with McEwans. In the old days S&N was my fave brewery. Exhibition, what a pint. :beer1:

Back on topic, Max, sorry mate, but Maplins is firmly budget/entry level/not really cheap but quite cheerful, call it what you will. I still use gear from there, but it is possible to buy cheaper and better I can assure you.

Maplins biggest crime is to let young budding DJK's believe they're buying fully professional kit, when it absolutely isn't. Over the last few years I have come to understand exactly what quality Maplins gear is. ;) If I had a pint for every thread which said "I've got problems with my Prosound amp and speakers", I'd be drunk as a skunk.
