Currently have two Irock 5b's and some imove 7's plus all the led lighting.

Now as the moving heads are HID and irock 5's are 250w they arent a great match "brightness" wise.

Im debating of either gettting some Irock scanners 6b's which naturally dmx very easily with the irocks and the dmx desk is isolution so keeps things nice and simple.

Saying that I get the feeling Martin EFX 500's/ Wizards etc... are "better"?

Thoughts on this people. I am only interested in peoples views that HAVE SEEN THESE WORKING. I can guess work myself but as the local dj store here doesnt sell any Martin Lights.............. its hard for me to make a judgement.

Budget wise isnt set but I am still trying to save for the JamesH deckstand.........

The efx500 is a good light i use one myself and it seem to have good coverage on it.

I had a efx600, I found the gobo/colour combinations to be very boring. They would be better if there had separate gobo and colour wheels. I ended up sending mine back.

So I understand this correctly as the irock 5's Ive got have separate wheels so you can get green/red/yellow/white stars and green/red/yellow/white circles etc...

But on the EFX600 you can only have say a white star or a yellow circle etc....

This is correct for the EFX500 and EFX600 yes. I use 2 x EFX500 and have done for getting on for 2 years. I have videos if you want to see them working, although i can't compare them to HID movers as I don't have any of those.

I wouldn't describe the EFX500 as 'boring' as it's ability to fill a room with Gobo beams is pretty good I would say.

I believe the Wizard range have seperate colour and gobo wheels, but the price reflects that of course.

Sure it fills the room, but the colour/gobo combination is too far limited for my liking. Not everyone will find it boring, but I did.

I think the Irocks would be better for you Neil.

The EFX are nice and a real room filler, but the Irocks are brighter.

You would need to go to the EFX600 as that is discharge and brighter than the 500.

Thats what I was thinking certainly be easier dmx wise.

The problem is if I got the 600 discharge I would have to use that with my moving heads (not really sure why I got them now :P) but at the moment just looking for 250w to match the irock 5b's
