I'm looking for a couple of LED panels to use instead of my pars as I think they would look better and show less cabling.

They must be able to use a simple controller though, such as the CA-8. Please don't suggest something and then tell me how easy DMX is...

Ideas?

And just how long have I been telling you lot that? :p :D :D Us oldies are supposed to nick ideas from you young 'uns, not the other way round. ;)

Can't help with models, all I can say is we've run mine on Justin's basic controller with no problems.

Anything that matches the channel assignments of your current pars will work with the same controller, afterall it's only a case of mixing red, green and blue in various amounts - in fact it would be just as easy with a little 6 channel DMX controller :D

Im not sure that any of the panels coem with a ca-8 type controller. I know that some of them use a mini controller with preprogrammed washes and chases but that would tie you down to a particular make for all your lights. like this http://www.ebdj.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?product_id=10645

I have 2 of those (or very similar) that I use with the Visio pars.

What does that model work with?

No idea, but this is about as simple and cheap as they come.

It works fine with my KAMs, and should work with most others.
Just in case anyone's wondering, no it's not mine, it's Justin's. ;) When I get one, it'll be all singing, all dancing. :D

Do you use them?

It says the controller works with any 4 channel led fixture, but the Stratos is 6 channel.

I'm a LEDJ PAR user and I also have a couple of these which work identically - same channel map as the cans etc..

But then I use proper grown-up DMX :p although I can't see any reason why one of the little controller jobbies wouldn't cut it (but not the CA8 obviously).

I use those panels, although the casing is slightly different. I use a 4 channel Soundlab (Yes Soundlab) controller as a backup to mydmx for them. The LEDs are angled and arranged so you get the same round area of light as you would get from a Par.
