View Full Version : Who's coming next year then?

Spirits High
20-10-2009, 10:51 PM
After the overwhelming success of the Networking in Cala Bona I have a suggestion for next year

Benidorm  Earlier in the year , how about february. Yes it's not quite in season but it will be more "alive" than Cala Bona :D

Quick bit of accommodation I've dug up, self catering apartment for 4 nights sunday 21st to thursday 25th £120  :D :D

http://www.thomson.co.uk/accom/page/ao/search/results.page?ico=AOSearchRes_Previous&pageNumber=0

So who's in then?

I wonder if it's worth doing a whole week, since bookings are a bit sparse at that time of year?

I went to Port Aventura (on the outskirts of Salou I believe) back in 1997. We were staying in Estartit but booked a trip to the theme park to ride a new rollercoaster. Unfortunately, when we got there, the ride in question (can I heck remember it's name!) was closed due to some pillock standing up when the train was going through a tunnel and losing their head - literally! The ride for closed for inspection by Health & Safety but the rest of the park was still open. However, the accident had seemed to put people off going as it was very quiet. We rode Dragon Khan 9 times in a row before my mate turned green and vomitted! Apart from very sore ears from the slack-fitting over-the-head harness, I was feeling great!

Ah, good times!!! :)

yeah I'd be up for this,,

my plan ( mainly on the other forum ) was going to be to and organise something in April, probably magaluf or palma nova

I mean, Feburary is a good idea as its such a depressing month:)

But, my suggestion would be Tenerife, or any of the canaries,,

I mean dont forget, you can get cheap flights from ryanair and easy jet now to the canaries, and ok its 4 hours, but thats not really a big deal.

Also, the weather in Feb in benidorm wont be nice,, you wont be able to sun bathe or swim ,,

Just as I was eating, read this :(

I think rides are not required to have physical bars, I heard that a certain Showmen had an accident occur on their 'Orbiter' Ride, and then it was (coinsidence) sold, which is now in operation by another operator.

ps,,just checked on easy jets site,, you can get flight to the canaries for less than £150 return,,maybe even £120...

then youve got lots of sunshine !

anyway,,,if you think its a good idea, then if you and spirits high try and organise it on here,,, then i'll go and see if I can work my magic on the orange forum,,,

Hi everyone !!

Just had a message from mister spirits high :beer1:

I think this is a great idea and I'd be up for it..

BUT,,

You know that the NADJ show is on the 25th APril aswell,,

SO how about this for an idea;;

everyone meets at the NADJ show,, then we all head off to the airport and get an evening flight

how cool would that be ...

I think the nearest airport from the NADJ show is Bristol ?? or could be Cardiff or Birmingham ???

What do you all think to that idea ???

just checked,,,

definatly Bristol Airport is nearest to the NADJ show,

33miles, 46 mins.

Spirits High
11-01-2010, 03:53 PM
Great thinking there Jeff but unfortunately flights from Bristol to Alicante go at either 0620 or 0730  so not much use :(

Fancy NADJ announcing the AGM a couple of days after I'm getting things rolling....how rude!

If the majority will be attending that maybe we need to slip the day slightly? Maybe to monday early doors?

jeff wood
11-01-2010, 04:12 PM
or change the destination

i think the concept of doing the show and then all heading off to the airport is fantastic !

only thing is,, ive been checking with some airlines, doesnt seem to be any evening flights to anywhere decent,

ive checked easyjet, ryanair, and thomas cook airlines..

did see one flight to majorca but thats at 5.30pm

so would need to leave the show a bit early

but i spose when you think about it

doesnt have to be bristol airport

could be say birmingham or east midlands

as long as the flight time is ok

perhaps around 9pm ??

Corabar Entertainment
11-01-2010, 04:22 PM
Not coming on the trip: but how about staying the night after the show so that you can do the 'night out' with those who are only going to the show, then going off on your hols in the morning?

jeff wood
11-01-2010, 04:26 PM
yes, thats another option..

Ive just seen a flight from Birmingham to ALicante on sunday 25th.

departs 7.30pm

http://www.bmibaby.com/book/cgi-bin/skylights.cgi

spose the best thing to do is to see what appeals to the majority..

who on here is actually up for it ???

certainly not a bad idea to go out after the show, then stay over, and then get an early flight from bristol...

so what have you people on here got planned for after the show then ???

Solitaire Events Ltd

Well, usually if there's something going on, I'm there.... ;) but really not practical for me to take a holiday then. I'm already way behind with my 'visiting' so I've got several holidays to take to various places to visit loads of people and I doubt I'll fit those in without adding another holiday to the list!

jeff wood
11-01-2010, 06:27 PM
yeah yeah yeah :)

and why do people insist on calling trips like this a holiday ??

its a business meeting, or as I've told my wife, a "Networking Event"

Well after checking flights etc etc etc

This is what I think would be the best plan:eek:

Do the NADJ show,

Go out and do whatever on the Sunday night.

Monday morning, make our way to Bristol Airport,

Get the 9am flight to Alicante

( Easyjet , £47.99 total )

Return back Thursday

13.10 flight ( easy jet )

But personally, I'd catch the 13.20 flight back to Liverpool ( Ryan Air )

So, which this plan we'd have the show + overnight stay, and then 3 nights in Benidorm.

And, we'd all be at a decent time on Thursday afternoon.

What do you all think ?

Any interest ?

PS> just been texting with Barry off the other forum, and he seems up for it.

This one is well located the apartment can sleep up to 5  in 2 bedrooms and a sofa bed but think 3 would be plenty in it or even 2 to be uber comfortable and the price....... £42.33 per apartment per night to put it in plain English if there was 2 of you in there it would £63.50 each for the 3 nights we'd be staying :D

Right we need defos now to get this booked, all those in favour :D

Michael Wood is the name of the motorway services Jeff, so I'm guessing that hotel is on the site. Thornbury is probably the nearest place with anything to do, besides Bristol - every other building on the high street is a pub, so spoilt for choice!

Ok, all in the name of more beer money I researched the apartments further and have now booked direct with them and cancelled the late rooms booking.

Got the same apartment dates etc for 110 Euros :D thats a reduction of 31 Euros from what the late rooms price was ;)
