If they're JAC's that's the older range. I believe the newer ones have better bass response. I'm not a fan of plastic, but these and other makes sound superb when used over subs. Hope they work well for you.

Sounds about what Class D said to me--the CD15SP which I almost bought would im sure have a better all round sound without the need for bass bins ---heard them at Peters speaker fest :D

They cost £275 new a pair and are rated 350 watts RMS a side with a guarantee.

But they are big heavy beasts:(

Also just because figures are quoted it doesnt mean they are accurate.

I have seen many ads for speakers on ebay that are secondhand which quote the latest spec which is higher than the older model you may be buying, they just lift it off the manufacturers website for the current model.

As to whether the speakers bought can handle the claimed power rms a side you will have to check out with a sound test, I dont know what they were marketed at originally so not sure.

Any claims by the sellers as regards condition and usage can only be taken at face value unless properly checked by testing before buying.

Hopefully they will be ok as Peter says.

I wouldn't believe any manufacturer that makes claims like that. The manufacturers that don't make claims like that, don't have to for a reason.

Their blurb on the website, I disregard totally. Always have done. Sometimes it's actually laughable. Speaking to the designer, and hearing the product is way more valuable.

I think there decent for the price bass wise. but for me that didn't do a lot. not a lot of treble and the over all volume isn't there.

Here we go again the great Class d debate, i said this a couple of weeks ago with our last discussion on these speakers if you are working to a TIGHT budget they are passable .
You might want to look upon them as a stepping stone to better things.

A couple of folk on here have used Mackie and Peavey as a stepping stone to better things, ie Class D. :D

they sound ok nothing fantasic.... (im only going by the speakers in the link beaucse peters sound quite good). and Its been said loads of times. Peavey pro speakers are terrible but if you go for the blackwidow ones there (http://www.forum.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/showthread.php?t=10626) really good, ask deckstar deluxe...... anyways I would go for peters warriors. or a pair of peavey hisys.

I hope I've been fairly consistent in my views. I don't like plastic cabs. The JAC series were not stunning. The CD**P series ( The successors to the Jac's) are way better.

There's no correlation between power handling and quality. Nor a direct one between power handling and loudness, before anyone points that out.

The messenger series from Peavey are not the cabs that my ancient Eurosys 3's are. Roughly identical specs, but that's the only similarity. I heard Alan's Pro series, and although they were way louder than my Class D's, I didn't like the sound anywhere near as much. The UL's that he's now got as well are a different kettle of fish. On the occasions I've heard them or the older Hysis, I've nearly always been impressed. The plastic Class D's are not ideal for full range, but as tops they're great. If I had to put them in ascending order of desirability to me for use as tops, I'd go
Messenger
Pro Series
Jac
CD**SP series (only because they're heavier. If we were talikng full range, they'd be above the plastics every time))
CD**P series
Hysis
UL series.

I would say the Pro 15s do a decent job for a low price speaker, clearly not equivalent to higher priced speakers like RCF, Mackie, JBL etc.

Peters Class Ds have a better bass end agreed--I cant get them on stands:eek:

If you get a poor sound from the Pro 15s its likely to be one of these problems--

Playout system
Speaker mismatch
Dodgy speaker leads
Blown speakers
