Just thinking it would be nice if we all stayed at the same place.

How about this one;

http://www.travelodge.co.uk/search_and_book/hotel_overview.php?hotel_id=395

Travelodge in Gloucester Town Centre.

£19 a night at the moment:)

And there must be a reasonable selection of pubs/ restaurants to choose from.

Also, even if you live nearby, at that price it must be worth staying and having a few beers :beer1:

Any thoughts on the subject ???

I know its still early days,, but the £19 prices dont last long and travelodges do fill up....

Sounds interesting but the flaw I see in your plan is that we'll be going North after the NADJ show then have to come back on ourselves to get to the Airport in the morning.

According to multimap it's 49 miles from that travel lodge to the Airport or time wise just over an hour.

This is where we need some local knowledge to point us in the right direction ;)

Yeah Gloucester is quite a way back up the M5 from where the show is.. Thornbury or Cam & Dursley would be the biggest local towns.

Yeah, point taken,,

Ive been searching for travellodges/travel inns etc today.

I spose the best thing would be to find somewhere thats not too far for people to travel to,( non Benidormers that is ), but is also on the way to the airport :)

also, got to think about the cost, dont it to be too expensive,

I'll see what else I can find :)

or how about this...

http://www.hotels.com/hotel/details.html?reviewOrder=date_newest_first&roomno=1&departureDate=26-04-2010&destinationId=550829&rooms[0].numberOfAdults=1&tab=description&arrivalDate=25-04-2010&hotelId=324111#description

£59 a room, but two could easily share as theres plenty of bed options, ie, singles etc,,

and we wouldnt have to worry about getting parked up in the morning or getting to the airport etc etc etc

yeah sorry, links from Hotels.com never seem to work..

this is it

http://www.futureinns.co.uk/bristol.htm

but if you book with hotels.com its £59 a room

and plenty of bed options,,

you can even have a room with two queen size beds,, and its still £59 !!

* and look at this :)

http://www.futureinns.co.uk/chophouse-restaurant-and-bar.htm

just need to work out exactly where it is,,

according to hotels.com its 600 yards from the airport !

but then they say its near the shops..

anyway, certainly looks like a good option :)

well according to AA routefinder, its 8.9miles to the airport,

but it looks like its a nice easy straight route...

hope that link works..

sorry to keep adding and editting :)

but just checked, and its 20 miles from the NADJ SHow,, BUT,, again it looks like a real easy straight drive,,

:D

well,,Ive checked all the hotels and eating drinking establishments in the area, and I reckon we've got two basic options,

either the travelodge in Gloucester, and have a night of it in Gloucester and then drive to the airport in the morning.

which is 46 miles, but does look as its a straight blast down the M5.

those rooms are £19 at the moment.

OR

get the one in Bristol ( Future Inn )which would be £30 each ( if two sharing ),

and then go out in Bristol, and then we're only 8.5 miles from the airport in the morning.

The advantage of the Gloucester option is that it would suit the Non Benidorm people, so more of us could be together :beerchug:

No idea what Gloucester is like for bars and restaurants, I only know that the leisure centre there is a sheep pen

When I have to travel/stay for shows, I usually find a small privately owned B&B using Smoothound.

Here's Gloucestershire:

Hope this helps people some!

gloucester is rubbish, seriously Jeff I would go for the bristol option.

jeff wood
14-01-2010, 05:33 PM
well everyone says that their own town is rubbish,, even people who are born and bred in Vegas probably say its :Censored: and that you're better off going to New York , LOL :)

thing is though, as long as theres a few bars.

but its not up to me, just trying to get everyones preferred option then we can establish a "official" hotel and get the rooms booked etc.

so anyway,, you're in favour of the bristol option ....

Spirits High

I'm in favour of the Bristol option as it means we're that much closer to the Airport

Because as we know with Easyjet.....if we're late they won't wait :D :D :D

jeff wood
14-01-2010, 07:11 PM
they will if I'm with you :)

OK, so the Bristol option is winning,, Im happy with that, looks a fantastic hotel..

need to get Dan and the others opinion aswell though...

then we can think about booking rooms,,in case they sell out or the price increases....

Bristol is good city to go out in, but depends on how many of the non-benidorm people want to stay down there, rather than somewhere a bit closer?

Just for the record, I'm happy to do whatever, if its close to the show then cool, if its Bristol then also cool.

I guess a worse case scenario would be that the Benidorm people stay near the show to see the rest of the show people - but they all then shoot off home leaving us near the show for no reason atall!

jeff wood
15-01-2010, 08:09 AM
yeah thats what I was thinking too..

and also, its a quick and easy drive to Bristol, 20 miles straight down the motorway,

so, maybe the non benidormers would do that,,

because then they;de get that fantastic hotel and somewhere decent to eat, drink and be merry.

i mean whats the alternative ?

going out in Gloucester and staying in the travellodge...

PS> at the BPM Show, it must have been about the same time/ distance from the hotel to Birmingham city centre, but everyone did it,

they didnt go to the nearest small town to the NEC ....

Questions mainly for the non "Benidormers"

How many people are staying over after the NADJ show?

And , where do you propose to stay?

Just to help out the Benidormers and their predicament:

We haven't booked / decided / settled or even looked into it yet, but (for what it's worth) I would think that (from what I've been reading of your investigations) it would seem more sensible to drive to the hotel and then be able to go out for the night local to the hotel (as opposed to having a hotel very close to the show, then having to get cabs for long distances to and from the night out).

So, from what you've been saying, it sounds like the Gloucester Travelodge would be the best option.
