Hi all,

Needed to convert some of my iTunes songs to work with the Cortex, and I came across this software: http://www.maniactools.com/soft/m4a-to-mp3-converter/

It's free, really quick and easy to use, and has the ability to convert to MP3 & WAV.

Just thought I'd share!

Ollie

Not necessarily. Beware. ;) ;) You'll find out soon enough. ;)

You can't convert from AAC to Wav. Wav is uncompressed, so how would you get the information back in, so to speak?

Not a clue, not used the WAV bit, just the MP3 one. I don't have the need to use the so called "WAV conversion" part.

You wouldn't. You'd get a lossless copy of the AAC.

No DRM issues then?

As it's format shifting, surely ProDub covers that?

I can highly recommend a program called Aimersoft Media Converter

Converts anything to anything :)

Audio and Video

Well worth buying for £20 or so

Also, no issues with DRM;)

You can convert them to MP3 in Itunes. Hold down the ctrl button and click on the ones you want to convert. Right click on one that is highlighted and click on "create MP3 version".

Pro Dub doesn't permit removal of DRM but current downloads from Itunes are not DRM protected.

Old ones were. :( :( One reason why I didn't use them. Conversion, yes Tony, I did that with one this week. Obviously doing as a batch is the way to go.

According to that, it has the capability to store video, so I think we're both right?

Your right mpeg4 is a video format but this is mpeg 4 audio. The file size compared to the length of the songs matches what it would be for an 320k mp3 and naturally doesnt have video information in the file.

Why itunes use this format I dont know but wish they kept it on mp3 as it was previously. It even takes my numark cue software longer to load it up than a standard mp3.

AAC is a newer algorithm, better compression, higher quality but MP3 is more widespread - to some extent like VHS to Betamax

This is why I've always used 7Digital. They were the first supplier to have a 100% DRM-free catalogue and I've just stuck with them.

Me too. Also use Amazon and these two probably deliver 95% of my downloads. Few from Tesco, and when backed into a corner, Itunes.

I've started to get the odd track from Amazon (which I didn't realise existed until a couple of months ago). Haven't tried TESCO yet, though. Might have to go and have a look-see!
