Ok a few topics for discussion...

1.How do I get in it??
2.How do I get out of it when i'm in it??
3.Why are Max and Flatliners in it anyway??
4.Are they ever going to get out of it??
5.Is there a minimum or maximum term??
6.Are there any prolific posters (2 spring to mind) who have been in it and who are now not in it??
7.Are all Bedroom DJ's going to end up in there??

Is there anything other members want to know about the Sin Bin??

1.How do I get in it??By breaking forum rules / causing disruption on the forum

2.How do I get out of it when i'm in it??When the admin think you're likely to stick to the forum rules and / or treat others with respect

3.Why are Max and Flatliners in it anyway??Sorry, don't think it's fair to discuss individual's personal business with other members

4.Are they ever going to get out of it??See above

5.Is there a minimum or maximum term??See answer to No 2

6.Are there any prolific posters (2 spring to mind) who have been in it and who are now not in it??Again, see answer to No 3

7.Are all Bedroom DJ's going to end up in there??I'm going to assume that wasn't a serious question and was just a sarcastic little dig.

32. Rules Infraction Policy: In order to enforce these forum rules, upon violation of this agreement MDD reserves the right to take any action deemed reasonable without further warning, including actions not listed in this document.

As a general rule, sanctions against members breaking forum rules may take the form of a private warning; a public warning; a trip to the ‘Sin Bin’ (this means that all posts made by the sanctioned member will have to be manually approved by a Mod or Admin before appearing on the forum); a temporary ban; or a permanent ban – depending upon the severity of the breach an at the sole discretion of the Site’s Mods and Admins.

The Mobile Disco Directory forum operates a ‘3 strike’ rule with regards to the Sin Bin. Any member that is placed in the Sin Bin for a third time may have their forum membership removed and be banned from the site.

Personally, I find it quite rude that members don't take the time to read the few rules we have in place. Ultimately, the rules are there to allow the place to run smoothly for the entire membership. If everyone took the time to read and adhere to them, the forum would be a better and nicer place for all of the members. I guess that's a lot to ask though.

Shaun....do an honest canvass.

When you buy a new 50 inch T.V do you spend an afternoon reading the instructions and then plug it in ....I think most on here would plug it in immediately, see what the picture is like, and THEN read how to get the most out of it

Could be a good thread....may make people aware that there are rules.Fortunately I can see that I have been sticking to them rigidly since day one:) :) :) :) :)

Of course people are aware their are rules! You have to confirm that you will adhere to them when you sign up! Plus we refer to them on numerous occasions, plus there's a whole forum section about them!

Going to go out on a limb here!!

In the short time that I have been here (6 months) Max has seemed to have a very rough ride.In that period he hasn't posted anything more outrageous than most of us have done on here(myself included).

He may not be a working DJ ...as far as I can see he has never claimed to be!!  He has a far better knowledge of equipment than I do....and I am a working DJ.

Why are a lot of his posts met with negative comments??

Only been here 6 months Pete....thats why there were question marks on my post??

In that period DJMAX has not posted anything that has offended me??

In fact it took me a week to realise that he and the much revered Visualdjmax were not one and the same person....how strange is that!!

As I've already said, I do not propose to discuss individual's personal cases publicly with the rest of the membership.

To suggest that the admins have put anyone in the Sin Bin purely because they aren't a working DJ is, quite frankly, insulting (which is why I said about your question being a sarcastic dig, and your further explanation has confirmed this).

As a general point, may I just point out to anybody who feels that someone is in the sin bin unfairly: it is extremely possible that you will never see any posts from members which would give you the reasons why someone has been placed in the sin bin: any original posts resulting in the members ending up in the sin bin will have most likely been deleted, then when they are in the sin bin, only posts that a mod or admin approves appear live, so of course you won't see anything! :bang:

I don't know why some members feel the need to assume that the mods and admins do things for the hell of it; nor do I see why we should have to defend ourselves. We do our best to keep the forum flowing and a useful place. Actually, the fact that you can't see any reasons for x,y or z is testament to the good job that the mods and admins do.

Angie.....Chill Pill please:) :) :) :)

I think the mods and the management on this site are fantastic and i've told you privately and publicly!!!;) ;) ;)

It is testament to the site that it has provoked enough interest in me to want to understand it a little better....

After some of the mammoth threads we have had this week(80 posts on JT.....DON'T GIVE A :Censored: PERSONALLY)...I thought it may be interesting.

I actually raised the thread as suggested by one of the Mods!!

So its sort of by invitation!!;)

Quite happy to answer genuine questions Martin, but when you then suggest that you think that we put people in the sin bin because they aren't working DJs, and go on to admit that you haven't even taken two minutes to read the forum rules, it is somewhat frustrating.

Nice interpretation! I think it was more of a suggestion that you didn't hi-jack the particular thread that you were on!

6.Are there any prolific posters (2 spring to mind) who have been in it and who are now not in it??

Yes...me!

I was put in there just over a year ago for insulting a member of site staff.

In accordance with the instructions to those in the sin bin, I carried on posting exactly as normal, and didn't ask how long I would be in there for.

After about a month, I received a PM from a different member of site staff to let me know he'd removed me from the sin bin.

Martin,

Why members are sanctioned is nothing to do with you, or indeed anyone. You started this thread with a question, which has since been answered. With that in mind, there's little point in this thread continuing. Thread closed.
