Hello All,

On another forum we are trying to arrange a meet in the beds, herts, bucks and northants areas. Would any one be up for this on here? Thinking either of the 1st two wednesdays in march.

Well, it's a bit of a catch 22 really, because unless we know where, what and when, we can't really confirm one way or the other.

(eg 6pm on the far side of MK going to go for a Mexican meal, might get a different answer than 8pm, this side of MK and you're meeting in an olde pub!)

Still trying to sort out whether or not we can make it to MK by 7pm that night!

When is the deadline? ...and if we can't make it by 7pm, would it be worth coming up later?

Can you let us know? Ta. :)

Well my guess is thats it going to go on for a little bit anyway. I have a DJ friend coming as well so im expecting to be there 2-3 hours.

Corabar Entertainment
02-03-2010, 05:16 PM
Well, having posted twice here asking the organiser, plus sending a PM (and I know that Mr Matthews has been on the forum several times since I have), it doesn't look hopeful that turning up a little bit late is acceptable!

I can only assume that it's 7pm on the dot, or nothing!

(and seeing as there's been no reply, I also assume that Steve and I haven't been taken into account when booking the table in any event, so don't even know if there'd be room if we did make it.)

If it was 10 minutes down the road, we'd turn up on the off-chance, but without some sort of feedback, it could be a very long round trip for nothing!

Mr Matthews? PLEASE could you confirm what the situation is? :(

spin mobile disco

Angela I know at least 3 of the DJ's going and we have a backup plan going if anything happens at the meet anyway. So come along, if it doesnt happen then come along to the alternative meet just down the road from it. That one is going on till 9 - 10pm for definate.

Ok i have only heard that 2 people want to come. Now I hear that several want to come on here. Sorry i have been on but not looked on the topic. I was going to post that i will cancel this. Only 2 people sent me a PM when i asked. Shall i cancel this or can someone tell me how many to book a table for??

Corabar Entertainment
02-03-2010, 09:57 PM
Well, some of us haven't been able to confirm because we've been awaiting replies to questions! :D (...and still are, actually!)

We still can't confirm table places unless we know whether it's a 7pm or nothing thing for the meal.

I assume you know this place? Is there a necessity to book on a Wednesday?

All I can confirm is that Steve and I would like to come up and will be there as soon as we can. We hopefully will make it on time, but cannot guarantee that we will be there by 7pm, but, if not, we should be there not too long afterwards. (Coming up the M1 during the tail end of rush hour tends to produce some inaccurate results in arrival times!)

What we don't want to happen is for us to arrive at 7.30pm, find a load of DJs sat down for a meal and us not be able to join them!

....so you tell us whether or not we're coming!

Gavin Matthews
02-03-2010, 10:09 PM

...and Matt (Spin) is a definite and he's meeting others too..... but I don't know if he'll be back on tonight (I doubt it).

I shouldn't imagine that any restaurant would be that busy on a Wednesday night, though.

Yes, those who didn't turn up missed out on a pleasant evening.

It's amazing how some so called "mobile" DJs can't make the effort to travel a few miles for a bit of networking, while others will make a 100 mile round trip.

Good to see you again Matt.

Enjoyed the meal and the company.

Shame most mobile DJs seem to be about as mobile as Nelson's Column :Censored:

Work commitments: fair enough, no issues, but so many can't be bothered to put themselves out in any way, shape or form, or travel more than 5 miles from their doorstep.... and even then, it seems to be an issue.

I can't understand why other DJs wouldn't want to take every opportunity to network!

That's because these days many people are unreliable, although I have no idea why. I guess they just don't care.

People say they will do something, ring someone or go somewhere, but often don't, which really annoys me...as I'm the complete opposite.

It even happens at my quiz nights. New teams often say how much they enjoyed it & that they'll be back the following week, but 9 times out of 10 I never see them again.

TBH, I had a funny feeling that 'something' might come up. Nevertheless, we waited until around 8:30-8:45pm for him (and anyone else) to turn up before going in for our meal.

Gavin: unless there was a very last minute absolute emergency, 'something' coming up, really isn't an acceptable excuse.... especially since you couldn't be bothered to post on this thread - even after the event, Spin had posted, you had visited the site, and left again without posting.

Would you treat your customers like that?

Wayno
04-03-2010, 12:19 PM
P.S I'm not digging at him personally as we all have personal reasons and responsabilities but I just would of thought that ONE of the organisers would have assumed responsability for the meet and at the very least took some contact details of those interested parties or posted on the forums that they expected a poor turnout and that it would probably be shelved. In hindsight those interested parties could of listed contact details in the thread.

By organising the event you are responsable by proxy for ensuring those who have asked to be in the loop are kept there especially when they are making the effort to attend.

All I'll say is I'm glad I didn't do the 100 mile round trip :)
