Have (rapidly) become disaffected with the KAM KWM 1920 VHF cordless mic system I bought in January - ALWAYS interference on at least one channel, very noticeable hum in the background on both channels - which comes from the fan on one of me power amps!
Was expecting better, as my Transtec VHF guitar transmitter that I have been using for years never gave me any such grief.
So it's UHF time then... £149 will score me a set of the corresponding UHF variants (KAM KWM 1930 (http://www.djstore.co.uk/cgi-bin/item.pl?item=kamkwm1930)) - anybody got this item? Any good / any probs? Or just go the extra tenner for the 1940's (http://www.djstore.co.uk/cgi-bin/item.pl?item=kamkwm1940)?
Anyone want a 5 month old KAM 1920 VHF system, boxed with warranty, for 60 quid o.n.o. ?!? :teeth:

It's funny you should mention that!
We wanted a not-too-expensive twin system that we could let customers use for speaches and bought the KAM KWM1930 last week.
The 1st set we got either had one duff mic or one duff channel (or both!), but the replacement worked fine in our tests. However, first use under gigging conditions last night and apparently one mic started cutting out! Haven't had the chance to re-check it yet, but I'll keep you posted! :teeth:

Come on downCheers - have sent email to Angela...
However, thinking on lashing together stuff I have already... :omg: I could get the 1940 (half rack) and mount that on my un-sold-on-Ebay rack shelf along with my (also half rack) old guitar processor (Yamaha FX 550) which will sort out all feedback / EQ problems and make vocals sound Generally Better - I have used that processor on many studio vocals when recording with bands over the years!
The 1940 system seems to have generally more features than the 1930 for the extra tenner...

Just a thought....
Are you using a balanced cable from the receiver to your mixer? I sometimes get problems with using jack cables, especially if using unbalanced outputs to amplifiers aswell.

Jack to XLR on mine, I'll give it a go with XLR to XLR tomorrow.

I've got a set of the UHF and not really had any problems with them for karaoke, and I'm soooooo glad I recommended them to Ang and Steve...:embarasse

Are you using a balanced cable from the receiver to your mixer? I sometimes get problems with using jack cables, especially if using unbalanced outputs to amplifiers as well.Have tried both options, but it's the receiver itself... with the mics switched off you can see one or both 'signals received' lights are on, and the meters are moving randomly.
Think it's the VHF bit that's doing it...

Time is short here, have gigs a plenty over July inc. an all day outdoor event requiring the mics and mixing a band in the evening... so I guess I'll give the 1930's a go, racked up with my Yamaha processor in line into the desk for DJ work (or into my PA amp and thence into the Bellringer splitter for live band work) should sort out any EQ / feedback probs... will keep ya posted on how it goes!
