Hi,

I'm taking my laptop out with me to Saturdays gig, aswell as CDs. I was going to put my laptop on top of my amp - Can anyone see any problems with this?

Regards

I would think overheating could be a major issue for the laptop.

A laptop cooling stand could be advantageous

I have one of those

Was thinking more along the line of any parts in the amp which would damage the hard drive etc

I would say that this really depends on how hot your amp normally runs and whether it's flightcased or not. A cooling pad is a good idea, but probably a better idea is not to put it somewhere where it could get hot.

Personally, I'd have a bit of a test for a couple of hours first to iron out any problems.

I don't think there is anything in an amp that would damage a hard drive. I'm sure I will be corrected if this is not the case.

Shouldn't be a problem, most amps these days are designed for racks, so push air out the back - not the top

So are there any components in an amp that would affect the hard drive in a PC that I don't know about?

I regularly use laptops on top of both single amplifiers and amp racks, doesn't cause any problems at all.

You need not be concerned :D

the coils in the amp by their very nature produce slight eletromagnetic forces, not enough to harm a disk (normally shielded anyway)

Just keep and hard disk away from you speakers (even when packing away)
