I've not done Karaoke, but was actually looking in to it the other week. :sofa:

Not sure if it would be worth making the extra out lay though? I would be interested to hear if others have got much karaoke work in for this year?

Why would you ask others about that? Surely you know whether it's worth keeping it up - it is your business after all.

You're missing the point. How can you get a feel for it - it's your business. People could tell you they're really busy, but be in a different market etc

I am constantly tempted to dip in to karaoke but I must admit I hated doing them in the past - for me it gets in the way of the dancing and I struggle not to lose my temper when its the same drunk muppet murdering every song.

I haven't noticed any further decline over the past 2 or 3 years, but then I did the few years previous to that. It will always be popular in certain places.

I have noticed a big increase this past year. many of the high end DJ's have packed in karaoke - leaving more business available.

Martin - work out if your collection etc is WORTH selling (value v potential business), if not keep it.

Come to Sunny Weymouth... loads of Karaoke going on here in bars and pubs, I don't do it on it's own but if I did I'm fairly certain I'd pick up work easy enough. :)

Well I've NEVER been to a Karaaoke night and my regular venue is eager for one so I'm gearing up to try it out - these 'trends' go in waves so maybe there's another wave coming?

I have more equipment hires for people wanting to do their own Karaoke this year, than bookings along with a DJ - suits me as I can be out DJing the same night as well :)

I've had my ususal mix of private and public karaokes this year, including a 3 night corporate event. Just been booked for the next Bank Holiday!

However I only do Karaoke and don't do disco's - more karaoke with 20 seconds of music inbetween singers!

Karaoke seems to be carrrying on as usual in Milton Keynes!

We have a karaoke residency and it's getting busier each week. We also do the occasional party with Karaoke, but most party bookings are disco only.

Karaoke still good for us although where it would be without the shot in the arm provided by X factor and the like is anyone's guess.

I like karaoke gigs - money for old rope and much easier than Dj'ing

We were part of the entertainment for delegates, press and staff at the evening part of a 3 day exhibition, seminar and presentation event for a local Bicycle manufacturer/wholesaler (luckily for me just down the road from where I live) they also had a live band, casino and food and a free bar! As you can imagine the Karaoke was the last thing everyone came to after the band, casino and food and we were the last to leave after ushering out the last drunken singer at 1pm every night (except for the security guard). Its a good gig though and its the 2nd time we've done it!

Absolutely - the Gleeks are also providing us with a lot of punters too!

Funnily enough, we had an enquiry for a wedding yesterday and they want a karaoke session in the evening... first time that's been requested in a long time, plus whilst we were out and about today, I saw two places advertising that they do karaoke on Friday nights that weren't doing it before, so it looks like it's on the up atm
