Overpriced laptop?

Will you be buying one any-time soon?

I looked at the OODJ a year or so ago and they are very much more than "just an overpriced laptop"

Purpose built for the job, see if you can get a demo Charlie or have a search on YouTube plenty of vids on there.

Do you mean one for free?

I see that they have finally decided to put all of the sockets on the side of the unit, I never did like it when all the sockets were on the top!

Has anyone bought one yet? What are your thoughts on it?

(also, can a mod correct the capitalisation of the title, it won't allow CAPS)

Won't allow CAPS for mods either I'm afraid.

(Moved to correct forum)

Adam mentioned the name 'OOVJ/00VJ' back last autumn, but I haven't seen much of it, and did a basic search for "OOVJ" where nothing showed up.

There are certain parts I like about it, and certain parts that I don't like. We were promised a more stylish fan vent, I think that the fan vent looks ugly and would be nicer if it was located somewhere more discreet, for instance a square fan vent on each side.

It was argued on another DJ Board that you could get an apple mac, plus a load of other stuff for the price of this.

Well built? Yes, definately
Well priced? That is a totally different ball game

Very expensive, yes, but some of the features (waterproof keyboard!!) are simply not available on a regular laptop. I think it would be a solid investment for someone looking for a digital solution built to last.

If they could get the price down to £1200, then I think it would be worth it.

Hmmm yeah,

Max has got a point.

If S&H dropped the price of their booths to £100 - I reckon I'd buy one! :sj:

I think of far better ways to spend 3k

It's superb, but wayyyyyyyyyyy overpriced if you ask me

I's be looking to pay about £800 tops for that, and it's only really the case it's in i like

the spec isn't even that good.

Charlie Brown

:agree:

You can get really decent/cracking business laptops for a grand.

I'm talking the dogs bolo_____:eek:

James

yup, definitely, the prices have come right down these days

i can remember paying £2500, for a (wait for it) pentium 133 with 16mb ram

I'd have to pay someone 2.5k to take it off my hands now

The guys at Valeway Technology are on the ball and quick with technical support. The machine it's self is so handy and light weight compared to a PC system and the stability and build quality over a laptop is far superior. I have 2 and would not be with out them I use them on rotation. If they're that good why have 2 I hear you cry. Nothing in life is guaranteed. Like other people have said on other threads here you need to have a back up for all possible eventualities, and an Ipod just doesn't cut it for Djing. Years ago I remember a draw on my Denon failed and I had to complete the last 2 hours from 1 draw with chat and fast hands between tracks... it went OK and no one noticed by it was such a worry and hard work. With technology today life can me made easy if you put your mind to it.
