I need help on buying a wireless microphone. I have £40 to spend. :embarasse

I think Numark do a fairly good one at around that price.

I'd sooner go for a Senhiesser e825 wired mic though...

The Numark WS 32 is half reasonable (you get what you pay for) bit heavy on batteries.

Mine cost £45 plus postage.
You can buy mine for £28 (one careful owner not used much) plus postage or collect.

Im buying a JTS headset mike instead for Line Dancing, to go with the JTS hand held version,

Dont bother with rechargeable batteries--Why do you say that, Alan?

I wouldn't bother wasting your money on a £40 radio mic.

Buy a half decent leaded one.

Well, my advice would be (sorry Alan :embarasse ) to save a few more quid and get either a decent second hand one or something a little better.

A mic is so important for a DJ, I don't understand why some people will spend a grand on a couple of lights and then pay next to nothing for a mic.

Not aimed at you CD or anyone else in particular, as I know you have a budget!

If it's just for a one off, hire a decent one.

Dont bother with rechargeable batteries--Ahh you need some of THESE (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180002138394&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsearch%2F search.dll%3Fcgiurl%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fcgi.ebay. co.uk%252Fws%252F%26fkr%3D1%26from%3DR8%26satitle% 3D180002138394%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1) - rechargeable batteries with the same life as a Duracell!

Personally tried, tested and recommended... :teeth:

Just to answer a few points here--

Daz--its quite all right mate im not down to me last thirty quid :teeth:

But if the wife keeps going shopping down the dress shop however--who knows

As it happens if you have a half decent sound system this mike sounds not too bad--it was just the feedback qualities that were not the best i.e. standing right in front of the speakers as I am doing most nights!

Maybe Callum does not need this facility.

I very much doubt Callum has spent thousands with all due respect on equipment and lights--but I admit I dont actually know that
so maybe this mike is ok for him--this is not a hard sell--honest!!

It really doesnt matter to me.

Angela, my point over rechargeables is that in my experience they suddenly die without warning ---this mike does not have a warning light when the battery is low--so you could lose it without any warning--with a normal battery you do get a bit of a hint as it starts to play up when the battery is low.

Anyway you wont catch me using rechargeables on any gig for Radio Mike,
Mini Disc portable players or anything else.

No doubt everyone else will disagree with this! :teeth:

I don't use rechargeables in my SM58 as I'm sure that I read in the instructions years ago, that they advise not using them for some reason.

I know why. Rechargables can deliver higher or lower currents that damage the componts in the mike or what ever.

i read that in a mag that came with robot bits. (Real Robots)

Angela didn't have any problems the year before last when we were up there when the Tattoo & Festival were both on, no worse than London, infact a sight better!

Oh & it was a long wheelbase Transit minibus she was driving.

I also found out the hard way as well.

I had a mini fan that had 2 rechargable in it i had it on and the motor blew up before it blew up it was going faster slower faster slower.

Pagan Flame, looked at your link on this--the ad says save £650 a year on your Digital camera batteries :teeth: Eh?

Ive had standard rechargeable digital camera batteries for four years that came free with the camera---recharge every time I use camera--- still going strong!

At the end of the day its not how long they last---its the fact they suddenly die on you without warning--as CD mentioned there may be other risks associated with using rechargeables--not something you want to be doing with a £300 radio mike.

Interesting though for items you dont use on the Disco.

No problem CD--you keep on shopping--I would say this wouldnt I--the Numark WS 32 is probably better than these "cheap double packs" of radio mics--I tried one from Maplins for a laugh---couldnt get my refund quick enough
