Ok guys I find myself in utter turmoil as Tesco internet phone (Voip Service) has ceased trading !!
I have been a happy user of this service for over 3 yrs, and I used their Voip line with a Virtual phone number to advertise my business (0845 number) they also supplied a regional number with a area specific dialling code (This keeps things totally indepenent of my home residential number).

Set up was cheap (Tesco Internet adapter for £25) and a cheap Asda cordless phone. This way it worked flawlessly with the computer switched off !
I did not subscribe to any monthly package only on a pay as you go basis, as It was mainly used for incoming calls, although the wife used it every now and then to phone her sister in New Zealand.

Can anyone suggest a like for like similar service without massive outlay ?
Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks as always !

Don't know about the 0845 redirection stuff, but for cheap calls to NZ, this lot charge 2p per minute. The wife is german and has been using them for 5 years now to call family in the fatherland. No issues whatsoever.

I use Vioptalk.
I've been with them from the word go and I've got 6 0845 lines plus a fax coming into the office:eek:
2.99 per month for each line and I've got answering machine service as well.

We've done Vonage to death on a few threads recently but in summary:

- big thumbs up from me
- buy the basic £5.99 per month package through Quidco for a £60 rebate
- minimum term is 12 months so that's a year for < £12!
- online management of voicemail, redirection etc.
- simultaneous ring up to 8 numbers - whichever picks up first answers the call
- voicemails sent by email as .wav attachments

Yep - and there's rumours afoot that v2.0 will allow you to link your fixed line vonage number to your roaming iphone app. So "free" call forwarding assuming you're not on a metered connection of course :) And management of your vonage control panel from your device.

Way cool...

The telcos will probably find a spanner to throw in the works though :(
