Ultimax make a laptop shelf that attached to upright poles and could be fitted on various size poles

Thanks, I should have mentioned, I already have a couple of those, but I won't be using the uprights with the stand.

The citronic laptop stand do come with a clamp, but can't visualise where you could clamp it onto.

im following this because will be doing some bar work soon where i will probably need a stand.

The best one seems to be the 'crane' but this seems to be US only unless anyone knows otherwise

The uberstand looks prone to collapsing (watch the vids) and the others are cumbersome to put togetheror too shallow in height (Numark)

I'll be interested to see what you end up with

Although you wont be using the uprights do they split so you could use the lower half of one to mount one on.

I use a Stanton Uberstand which I have no complaints with, in fact it's quite a slick little number.

I like the look of it and the way it folds but the videos i have seen indicate that if anyone pulled it, it would just fall down because the hinges do not lock into place. is that the case?

I don't really want to trust my laptop onto something that isn't 100% stable in a drunken revelry type situation.

My booth is too high for that to be an issue mate, but, before I had the booth I just put a cable tie on it.

I've got one of these - they're not too clever if you use the legs (as in the picture) they definitely need something to weigh down on them in order to keep it stable. It does also come with clamps to secure to the edge of a table which works well.

I'd personally go with the freestanding Stanton that Mr Wild uses

I have used the following stand for the bar/club work I do for the past 4 years and it is still going strong:

The point is though, there isn't space for a free standing one. It needs to be clamped, but then I have the problem of it being in front of me and not seeing the audience. Have a look at a picture of the DSB Micro and you'll see what I mean.

Just had a look and I see what you mean - it's all a bit tight in there!
In that case the Kam Stand that I have will clamp nicely to the shelf anywhere onlong it, so it can be offset to the left or right. The laptop stand is only 25cm high so if clamped to the shelf the laptop shouldn't even be visable over the lip/raised bit at the top of the deckstand. I'll send you an MMS of mine that's on the desk at home

Thanks for the piccy Simon - the stand would have to go behind the deck which is 11U x 2 (4) U and it doesn't look like it would be tall enough and it wouldn't fit to the side.

I have a couple of keyboard type stands and the deck and laptop fit on those, but only if I take the shelves out, which seems a bit silly really!

When I went over to using my laptop I recased into a Kamkase with a sliding shelf. with the shelf in place you have access to about 4u so I can use the mixer X500 and the laptop all within th boundries of the foorprint of the case.

My case is a mixer version as I have no CD Draws, but there might be versions with upright U space

The shelf is easily removable for when you don't need / want to the use the laptop.

The one I sent you a pic of raises to 36cm but then again probably not enough to get over your unit - and then any higher and you've got the problem you first mentioned of seeing the audience or visa versa, and as you rightly said taking the shelves out is silly.

Daves idea (above) is a sound one but if I'm thinking correctly you won't have the depth in the console to accommodate a sliding shelve jobby, and again using a more upright version you'll have the audience visual problem again.

I'm confuddled for you mate :( :(

Try one of these for size:

LINDY Notebook Arm: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

Or could this be used to fit onto the wing either side of the DSB?

Seems silly, but won't cost me. ;)
