Hi all,

I've got a pair of old'ish Abstract scanners and one of them seems to be eating bulbs for a past time (about one every 2 months). The other has only had one replacement in a year! I only use branded bulbs so I dont think that they are the problem.

Anyone had a similar problem, or could suggest a probable cause?

thanks in advance!

Hi Nick,

Firstly, welcome to the forum.

How many lamps have you changed since you started having the problem? It is possible that you have a bad batch of lamps. If not, the problem would usually be the transformer providing the wrong voltage to the lamp.

or it could be that the fan in your unit is not working properly and the bulb is overheating.

Our EVL Spins sometimes do the same. We have taken them in countless times in order to have them checked over, but always come back with no faults so i don't know. Could be a bad batch of bulbs i guess.

are they 12v / 24v or 120v. 120v are a pain in the but. Always blow.
