Any recommendations please for a cheap (under £20 preferably) soundcard to use with VDJ.

Two outputs is all that is required to link to a simple mixer and preferably USB.

It's not for me before people start telling me I need to buy something more expensive - it's for my trainee nephew to play around with.

If it were me, I'd go for a couple of PCI Soundblaster cards - you could possibly pick up a couple on ebay for £20, let alone one.

Sorry, should have said - it is to use with a laptop rather than PC.

This should do just the job for you Darren

Ignore the above - that's the wrong product mate

I can't find any with the specs you want for the price you want - there are cheap ones out that just connect up to the PC for monitoring purposes with headphones etc, but the cheapest one I could see for what you need (I presume linking through a mixer) is this (http://www.djsupplies.co.uk/numark-djio-usb-sound-card-dj-io-449-p.asp)

Oh a pound cheaper here (http://www.djstore.com/item/numdjio.htm?affid=froogle)

Lowest price one I can advise is Numark DJ IO. Nowhere near your price sadly, I got mine s/h for £50. Excellent piece of kit though, highly recommended.

One of these any good? Creative Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit External: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo No usb cable or driver disk (if you need it) But it's doing nothing at my house, be better put to use by your nephew. It lights up anyway, I just plugged it in. Worth a shot, pm me the address you want it to go to and I'll chuck it in the post tomorrow if you want it.

For the people who couldnt get the soundblaster kits working with different outputs - you cant use the standard drivers. You need special drivers which i have somewhere for when i used a pci soundblaster card.
I did work great but then i went over to laptop so didnt need it anymore.

I think you do need the SB drivers for the 5.1 external soundcard (which I use two of myself). It adds some extra programs for configuring the sound to just the way you want it.

If you can't get it to work, Daz, I could run you off a copy of the drivers/installation disk if that's any help to you. Just let me know.

For anyone still interested I found this (http://www.inta-audio.com/dj-equipment-c125/computer-dj-vj-c126/numark-numark-stereo-io-usb-audio-interface-p2680?utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=ppc&utm_term=2679&utm_campaign=froogle#) from Numark. It only has 1 output but a decent product for £24.99.

How would that be any different from using the headphone jack though?

I thought there was some magic way you could configure it. I have an Echo card that has virtual outputs, so thought this may have something similar.
