Hi

Although it pains me to do it I have to delete 36,799 WAV files from my 1.5TB HDD and also from the back-up copy.

Both drives were completely full and all the data had to be copied onto 2.0TB drives.

With over 2,400 CDs that have cost me more than £12,000 on them I want to ensure that this valued collection does not get into the wrong hands.

I understand that if I simply format the drives it doesn't erase the data.

What can I do to make sure it is totally deleted? (other than burning the drive - as I want to sell the empty drives)

Many thanks

Lee

This will wipe your drive , no second chance :D

http://hddguru.com/software/2006.04.12-HDD-Low-Level-Format-Tool/
all you will be left with is a totally clean un-formatted drive.

If you don't overwrite the data with rubbish, it may be possible to recover data from it.

I've used http://www.dban.org/ - to wipe drives in the past. Be warned, because it overwrites everything (x times) it can be a lengthy process!
