I am looking for an active sub (sorry powered sub :p )to leave in a venue I do regular midweek gigs. It is a smallish social club.

This does not need to be anything spectacular. 2 tops are sufficient but would like to add a little extra. Budget is £300 - £350

I have been looking at this : http://www.htfr.com/more-info/MR339547

Also looking at some of the Thommann offerings.

Any reccomendations. Budget is non negotiable ;)

Couple I have seen

This one looks good and well within budget http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/L2-Audio-TSP115-Powered-Sub-15-400w-SUBWOOFER-/160389005730?pt=UK_ConElec_SpeakersPASystems_RL

This one just a tiny tad over budget but looks a great little active sub 100db 38Hz and it will run passive tops, could be handy if your amp goes down.

Have heard them before and was very impressed. Probably stupid, but the only thing putting me off is if it would look strange sitting on its own as opposed to the 'box' subs.

Excuse my ignorance (late starter!) - can a single Powered/Active sub integrate in to a passive set up? If so, how?

2 inputs and 2 outputs , active crossover , built in crossover in mixer and probably few other ways.

You can run a signal from your mixer to the Powered sub which has its own mains power amplifier.

Its not connected to the passives so theres no impedance balance problem.

Oh yuss. In some ways, it's the easiest way to add a single sub. Run your signal as normal into the sub, and if it's equipped with hi-out, as most are, run this signal back to the amp for your tops. In effect, the sub is a crossover and second amp.
