What do I need

Here the situation.

One home PC connected to the internet via a rj45 lead to a BT broad band hub , and three laptops.
I would like to connect all the laptops to the main PC so I can sync folders etc , how would I go about this, and what would I need.

I can make them all default to Win XP , usually its a mix of Win XP and Linux

If you just want to sync folders, try this. (https://www.dropbox.com/gs)

Your files are held on a server, but when you update one, it updates all.

I use it on my phone and Ipad and am finding it very useful.

It also means you don't have to mess around trying to connect all your PCs if you don't want to.

I'd have thought you'd just need to create a share on the PC, and give the user accounts on the laptops read and write access to it. Mind you, that's only going to work if the PC is on all the time.
