Tapatalk Forum App works with vBulletin 3.7, 3.8, 4.0 and other formats.

It's free for forum owners to activate and allows people (like myself) to browse the forum in a mobile friendly way.

The App costs £1.79 to buy.

Is this a feasible idea?

Would have to try it out before I could offer an opinion. I (am forced to) use the IPB app for another forum and it seems a bit limited really. I don't really have any issues using this forum just in normal browser mode.

Richie and I discussed this but I can't remember what happened about it!

No, I don't have any issues but I thought if we could get it going, it'd be pretty nifty?

It won't cost the MDD going?

Wouldn't people then have the option of browsing through the App or normal mode?

Why would people pay £1.79 for an app when they can use Safari for free?

If there was an app I doubt I'd download it.

I can view and post with the iphone fine as it is.

Well it doesn't cost the forum so people can make their own mind up?

Without a doubt I'd buy it.

TapaTalk makes viewing the forum a lot easier than using Safari!

I use it a lot for other forums and was hoping it was installed on this one, hopefully it will be soon!

Tapatalk doesn't integrate with this version, however if we upgrade at some time then we will look into supplying this feature.

At present though we have no plans for upgrading the forum.

If there's going to be a version for Iphone... An android version would be appreciated!

However I can view the forum fine on normal browser mode on Samsung Galaxy S. Just would be nice to be optimised for 3G in an app.

Would be a nice added feature i think.... but not a necessity.

Tapatalk will work for all platforms (iPhone, Android, Nokia and Blackberry)

Handy tool to have as I visit a few forums on my iPhone which have tapatalk installed. Defiantly quicker to view and post as it's not having to load loads of images.

Just to let you know that Tapatalk does work with this version of the forum.

Q: Which forum system does it currently support?

A: Currently phpBB3 3.0.x, vBulletin 3.6.x/3.7.x/3.8.x/4.x, xenForo 1.0.X, Invision Power Board (IPB) 3.x, Simple Machine Forum (SMF) 1.1.11+/2.x, MyBB 1.4/1.6 and Kunena 1.5/1.6 are supported. You can also look for other forum system plugin developed by third party developers using Tapatalk API at our Developer Support forums

I've just installed it on a forum I run and it took all of 30 seconds.

Just thought I'd revisit this as we've had an upgrade.

Any ship on the horizon with regards to TapaTalk?

Well, now that we've upgraded, it may be an option (once we've sorted out everything in the background that's still being worked on), but...

Can anyone explain to me what the advantages are, seeing as people say they've not got any problems viewing without the app?

This is just a guess (and may be completey wrong), but I'm sure apps like tapatalk provide a more streamlined viewing for using on mobile devices which makes viewing and browsing quicker. (i.e. A layout without avatars/images etc) which can reduce loading times and data usuage for those working on mobile devices and restricted data usage plans.

Shaun's right.

I can view and navigate without the app, but it involves a lot of zooming in and out to view things. Replying to threads can be a bit tricky as the keyboard gets in the way of viewing what your writing, and scrolling the reply box and not the page is a bit tricky.

Better yet for the tight pocketed people is a mobile theme. The blueroom (Although it uses different software) has a really really good mobile theme thats better than any app about imo. :D

It's really easy to integrate. Upload the folder they provide to the root, register and activate on the Tapatalk website and you're done.

When a new version is released you get an email and just replace the folder with the newly downloaded one.
