I was wondering what level others here normalise their music collections to. I should say that is volume normalising using a program like mp3 gain or similar.
I have until recently been settign all mine to 96db However I am at the moment lowering mine all to 92db to prevent peak clipping on tracks that are not compressed for example older motown that has vrey high transient peaks compared to quiet points in the same song.

Im basically wondering if anyone has found a particular db level to be beneficial against the alternatives. If we all have similar levels it may act as a baseline for others when hey do their own colection.

I use mp3 gain HERE (http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/index.php) all free .
I set the gain at 89 db and let the software do it`s work.

I use the Auto normalise option in VDJ set to 0db.
