I particularly liked the lighting - might sell a lot of mine to downgrade to the Haverhill look (only joking Wabbit)

I don't think that lot would cost you 2 and a half grand new!

it would fill the biggest venue you can think of (with in reason)

I dont think thats the right amp for Disco work especially if you are fading in mikes and other music sources perhaps on a regular basis.

I bought the XR800F which is the flatbed mixer amp--1000 watts--- more suited for what we do--that mixer amp shown is basically better for a band using microphones.

No--not my opinion--thats what the technical guy at Peaveys told me when I went for a test run up at Peaveys Corby Sound Studio 18 months ago. :teeth:

Yes, I agree. Although most Karaoke guys I have seen work use this type of mixer, and don't bother to adjust microphones for different singers.

We use an upowered desk mixer, to add in other mics, add effects on Aux channels and split the sources using other Aux channels for subs and tops. Working in a similar way to a crossover

Regarding the package, its...terrible! The peavy speakers are the only thing worth grabbing, and they're cheap these days, what use does a DJ of monitor speakers?

If you want to create a cheap good looking package of your own, play around with items from:

Theres no problem using a Powered Peavey Mixer-I use one twice a week and its excellent--its just that the one shown in the ad is the wrong one for Disco use--you need the XR800F like mine for up to 1000 watts nominal output with properly matched speakers to go with it.

Always useful if playing in big halls with lots of echo.

They also help if you like a bit of beat mixing.

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned the fact that it is an illegal karaoke system :omg:

Illegal in the same respect that every person using a laptop or PC is also illegal till they sort the licences out, yes.

Well, yes, but the difference here is that there are no original CD+G discs supplied in the sale, and you certainly cannot download MP3+G files anywhere legally from the internet.
