Hiya Guys.

Ive searched, and half found the answer from Soundtracker (its scourer and elbow grease by the way), but any tips on what we can use to make the Ultimax silver bits sparkle again?

Cheers

Steve

You need to add a bit of sweat into the mix, and job done.

I hate this job with a passion, so If you find a way that doesnt involved elbow grease, please let me know :)

Why bother? You won't see it when it's dark anyway !

http://www.tripeek.com/

Works a treat on all metal that I've used it on from bar fittings to our Ultimaxs & my trike.

I used to use T Cut car polish on mine and a bit of elbow grease.

You could then try a can of spray lacquer to protect it in future.

What about the over head bar?

Mine has gone a funny colour because it's been oxygenated.

The word he's looking for is oxidised, they are zinc plated and the sweat on your hands corrodes them. The dulling oxide is Zinc oxide.

Here endeth the science lesson.

Just to update...I tackled the Oxide with some wire wool. Not exactly shiny chrome looking, but it is shiny and looks like brushed steel now...which is quite cool...

And will re-oxidise at twice the original rate... :D

When I was a welder fabricator there was a repaint product called Galvafroid, great stuff but expensive.

good stuff used it many many times when doing conduit work, wouldn't like to paint ultimax with it though.

I'm learning this the hard way - time for a new set of poles for me I reckon ;)

I don't have this problem at present... I have a Giraffe stand which is just spray painted black. At some point I'll have rust on the bar where the clamps go on.
