Probably the first of many Mac related questions - I just cant get my head round them :D :D

I have a external hard drive which I would like to use on both pc and mac, sharing certain files MP3, word documents etc. How do I format the drive to work on both ?? At present it works on the mac but not recognisable on the pc ???

Help much appreciated, cheers

yes as the link details, it depends on how you want to work with the files - e.g. if it was just a USB stick to transfer small files <4GB FAT32 on the stick would be best.

As above FAT32 works fine between MAC and PC at least up to 16gb capacity (tested here). I believe the single file limit is 4gb.

FAT32 also works on Denon HD2500 and Pioneer CD players so is a good format to use all round if the 4gb single file limit isn't an issue.

So long as its FAT32 both will read and write to it.

Cheers everyone for the replies. Indeed reformatting the drive to FAT32 has fixed the problem.

Stick around, I can see many more Mac problems cropping up :D :D
