I've got a couple of gigs coming up where time is of the essence in terms of setup and take down time.
One is a joint 18th birthday party in 2 weeks time and the other is a 13th birthday in 3 weeks time.
A few months ago I trialled not using the Ultimax Stand and instead using an X-Stand (keyboard stand) to hold the playout. It is all neatly enclosed with a cloth and looks quite smart. This also saves 10 minutes setup and takedown at least which is very handy.
However, using this means I don't have my gantry to put lights on.
Last time I used a T-Bar with 2 x Lasers and a Megabar, plus 2 x floormounted impossibleds. This was for a 15 years old birthday and filled the room ok, but I just wasn't happy and felt i undersold myself (client was completely happy and has rebooked ;-)
So what should I do. I don't have the funds to buy new lighting or new stands at this point, although consolidation is an option down the line.
Kit list is as follows
2 x T-Bars, Heavy Duty, Non Winch.
4 x Megabars
2 x Martin EFX500
1 x Equinox Atria Laser
1 x Cluster 3D
2 x Impossibled
1 x Chauvet O Beast
1 x CA-8 Controller
1 x DMX Controller, although I want to miss out DMX for quick setup.
What would you do to make the best of this lot and be able to set up the lighting in about 5 minutes ?
