As you may know, the SEDA committee have been working hard to bring back a benefit which we have not had for many years with a new offering - public liability indemnity insurance, employers liability insurance plus dry hire cover. In order to proceed by our constitution, we need to call our members to an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) as it will mean some minor adjustments to the constitution. This EGM will take place at the next SEDA ShowNight on Sunday 16th January 2011, and I look forward to seeing you all there for what will be a very important benefit to SEDA membership.

As well as the EGM, we welcome Void Acoustics from Poole who are bringing along a striking looking speaker system - the Air Motion http://voidacoustics.co.uk/product_detail.asp?id=42 for us to see and hear. Ryger will be also in attendance with a few new products including the the FL-P1 small fixture controller http://s100707185.websitehome.co.uk/ryger/html/fl-p1.html and Jonathan Dobson will have his Ableton Live system for us to look at with Barney showing us more tricks with the Serato system.

Brian will bring along his Pioneer CDJ-2000 / DJM-800 deck together with the RekordBox software to show us how they work together. Unfortunately, Denon have had to postpone their visit, but we do have all the other usualfeatures such as the second hand corner, the SEDAshop for all consumables, gaffa tape, lamps etc..., and 2 members shows to kick off the new year.

The first members show is Anthony Rigg from 1st Disco Entertainment Services, and the second members show is the one and only Ian Forest who is bringing something different to show us: he will have the Bose L1 Compact on display and the new Vestax Spin midi controller which maps pretty much to all DJ software.

Finally we have the raffle featuring the highly coveted reel of gaffa tape with proceeds going to our chosen charity; the RNID Don't lose the music campaign. Our good friends at Ryger have very generously donated an FL-P1 to be given as a prize to be drawn on the night, in order to win this great product, you need to be a SEDA member. Don't worry if you are not a member, there are opportunities to join SEDA on the night before this draw takes place ;)

As usual, all are very welcome, so if you've ever wondered what goes on please feel free to come along. Also if you came along a few years ago and weren't too keen, come and see us again, things change.

ROAR:

Unfortunately we do (very rarely) get serial visitors who claim they see no value in joining but would like to attend the ShowNights. We feel that the ShowNights are one of our members favourite benefits and therefore as a general rule would expect someone that wanted to attend
on a regular basis to join the association.(As a guide we would not expect a visitor to attend more than 2 ShowNights).

Cheers,
Brian Mole
SEDA Secretary 2010/2011
