Hi Guys

I wonder could anyone give me a review on this
http://www.dv247.com/pa-systems-and-live-sound/mackie-srm1801-powered-subwoofer--73929

Maybe someone on here has 1 or 2? I'm looking at getign 2 to run with the ART 322's

Cheers ;)

Why would you want 18" subs with 12" tops surely something like this would be better size & weight wise ?

Mind you I think looking at them if it's possible to turn the top around so the top hat is further back that would be ideal.

Of course a decent pair of 18" subs is going to sound really good but for most mobile discos you don't need them, a pair of 15" is plenty and will balance with the 12" tops well, what do you want to carry all that extra size and weight for ? particularly if you have to go up a couple of flights of stairs.

Well it appears to be lighter than an RCF 705. I'd still class it as a two man lift though, because they're so awkward to carry.

If you have the budget, then go for an RCF sub - one will be more than enough for most venues. The newer 905 is £1000+ but weighs less than the 37Kg 705AS which you should be able to find second hand for around £500.

Those are the 2 I'm looking at Darren.

My biggest problem is how impatient I am!

Your link puts them at 33.1Kg.
Toby's HTFR link puts them at an eye watering 59Kg!!
Which is right? Well, according to the manual:
http://www.mackie.com/Products/srm1801/pdf/SRM1801_OM.pdf
they weigh in at 33.1Kg per unit.

I read 51kg - but it didnt feel that heavy?

Hmmmmmmm. The market leading active subs weigh over 30Kg each, and are huge and unwieldy. Reminds me why I carry a ridiculously heavy amp which is small, and subs which are small and light. ;) :D :D :D :D

( And before anyone points out that the big actives outclass mine by many a mile, I can live with that. They provide enough bass for my needs. )

That's not the 705AS, they have it listed wrongly. The cabinet is different and the amp is 700w on the one you are linking to.

I have 2 of these and I know the weight.

If you don't want to believe me, then fine, I won't try and help anymore.

hang on now - chill out!

I never said you were wrong!

there are however 2 very similar looking subs at different weights - it has confused me.

I did say it was a 705 also by the way not an 'Art' ;)

What the difference then? x

Why bother asking someone if you don't believe their answers?

I will retire from this thread now and leave you to your disbelieving.

And please be careful what you post. I'd hate to have to kick you off for trolling. :)
