I'm looking for one of these (http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/uk/en/ho/WF06c/A1-329290-64265-3965876-3965876-3841320-3841326.html).

My daughter's netbook screen appears to have died and I am trying to work out if it's the graphics chip or screen and to use an external monitor to check, I need the above lead.

I don't want to be buying one as it's £40+

A long shot, I know, but has anyone got one kicking around?

Thanks Peter.

Still £26 with delivery though for a product that I only need to test to see if something is broken! There's no picture either and Pixmania products come from Europe/France I believe.

There's no picture of the adaptor on Pixmania?

It took a while to appear. I don't think it's the same lead as I need though.

Or.... if you have a HDMI input on your TV, buy the above, test it - then stick it on ebay or return to cpc.

That's a great offer - can you PM me the approximate cost? I'm trying to work out if it is worth rescuing!

Great idea - thanks. I'm not convinced that's the right cable though - it looks different to me. Do you think it is the same connection?

It's definitely not a mini display port - the shape is different. :(

The description says it is. The piccy most definitely isn't. Darren, I never checked postage. Ah well.

Its hard to see. My understanding was that a mini vga is a miniport. There not a common thing to have lying around. You can try it. I'm 80% sure its the right one though.

The miniport looks like a different shape to me. Have e look at the image here. http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/uk/en/ho/WF06c/A1-329290-64265-3965876-3965876-3841320-3841326.html and tell me what you think.

The netbook is a Compaq Mini 702EA.

Thanks for your help. :)

According to Wikipedia, there appear to be quite a few different flavours all bearing the same name. How confusing.

It seems its a Display Port (not mini-display) to VGA adaptor. Should help narrow it down.

If it's one of these then I've got an adapter here you can borrow

No, it's not. It's slightly longer and thinner.

Thanks for the quote and all your help Shaun.

I am undecided what to do. If I buy the lead and it's not the screen, but the graphics chip, it's going to cost me a new netbook anyway. If I buy the lead and it's the screen, that's going to cost me £70+ anyway, so I'm thinking that it might be just as easy to buy a new one!

No problem at all Darren.

I can see your predicament. When my Mrs shattered my laptop lcd with her size 20 shoe (joke btw!), it cost me £60 for the screen and 30mins fitted. This was after I had obtained a few quotes. HP wanted £250 and smaller PC repair shops wanted around £150-£170. So I learnt a new skill and did it myself. I've done several now. Along with several IPhone screens!

Is there a Maplin near you? And do they sell what you're after? If the answer to both is "yes" then do what I do when I don't have something to test....buy it there, open it carefully, use it for testing, then package it up and take it back under their "no questions asked" refund policy :)

EDIT: Just re-read your post and that doesn't really help your situation! And, just checked Maplin and they don't seem to have it, anyway....!
