Funny Smell

1st if a few asks this morning.

Just replaced the lamp holder on on of my Scimitars. All seems to work fine (which is good as never replaced one myself before), but on powering up with cover back on there is a funny smell - almost a faint burning smell. Open it up again and no sign of anything wrong and when run without the cover on, no smell.

Any ideas?

Not when I changed the holder, but before I realised it was the holder I did put a new lamp in - so this would be the first time it powered up

Probably just burning off the 'new-ness' - same thing can happen when you fire up a par for the first time or most theatre lamps.

Just run it for a while and see what happens.
