my macbook 13 seems to not want to shut down all of the sudden? if i press shut down or even restart from even the appl elogo or start button it just stays on a blank blue screen

the only way i can shut it down is to hold the powere button

Have had this too on my MBP 13. I had to hard shutdown and then rebooted perfectly after that so I assume something like safari was holding it open.

I guess Apple may fix it if there is anything about it on the Apple forums.

ive had a look through seems common some people have cured it by some pram reset and a smc reset im oblivious to what this means i did try it made no difference? ive recently had some software updates which i suspect is when it happened

There might be a progrom running that's hidden not allowing it to close down - click on the apple (top left) and then force quit - it'll show any prgrams running, click on offending program and quit - thene shut down as normal

command alt escape all together and quit programs. then restart via apple logo.

If that does not work hold down the power button until it stops.

should be OK. Its not like windows and should not go into a coma, but restart as normal and basically reset.
