Evennin' All,

After humming and harring for months, reading countless reviews, trawling forum after forum and watching dozens of mind-numbing youtube videos I took the plunge yesterday and ordered my new PA! (Hence the sale of my old one in the FS section!)

May I introduce....the JBL PRX612M :D
http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e214/mattydinx/IMG_6013.jpg

The Peaveys, as much as I'd become used to their sound were far too big and heavy for my poor Clio to lug around to every gig (Yes, my whole rig fits in a Clio!...just) and after the gig at the weekend I decided humping 25kg speakers into a tiny car at 1am was not my idea of fun.

Had a quick test tonight in the living room - Wow! Crystal clear highs, surprising lows (for a 12" driver)

They get their first road test on Saturday at an engagement party my band's playing.

Expect a full review after that!

Nice looking cabs. Are they light?

15.6kg according to the specs, certainly a lot easier to put on the stands!

Is it just me, or are there some striking similarities between the QSC K12 and the JBL JRX612M (including the price?)

vs

I'd be interested to know which speakers people rate in this class (lightweight, 127db+) as I'm in the same position as Matty (fed up lugging JBL JRX115's around) and looking for a pair of active full range 12's or a pair of 10's and a good sub?

There's loads of comparable speakers out there at the moment, thats mainly why it took 4 months to make my mind up. All claim to have a 1000w amp (although none state whether thats RMS or Peak lol), all are sub 18kg and as you mentioned, all go above 127dB.

Heard/Read great things about all of them - a common point from K12 owners was that they ran into the limiters earlier than the JBLs, and the fact the JBL's are wooden enclosures are what sold it for me.

Are you using them without subs? How do you fimd them with dance/rnb? Do they enough bottom end?

For a 12" cab i've been VERY impressed!

They go stupidly loud (and still remain clear), and pack one hell of a punch for their size. I've fed them Metal, Dance, Dubstep, R&B - you name it, they just lap it up!

I intend to add a sub at a later date though, nothing more satisfying than a good 'ol thump to the chest.

I've been looking at a pair of 12" actives and like you have spent ages watching the reviews on youtube.

Maybe time for me to take the plunge.

Where did you get yours and what price were they?

Cheapest place I found was JP Leisure at £1448 a pair, but like everything - they order direct from the supplier so there's usually a 3-day wait.

I checked with my other regular suppliers and most were happy to do a Price match.

I'll see about getting some more pictures and a video up soon

Do they have matching subs & can you get a holdall type covers for them ?

Can you give a link if they do thanks.

There are two subs in the PRX600 range, both 18". One rated at 700w and another "XLF" model rated at 1000w. The latter goes lower and apparently uses the same driver as the VRX version.

From what I gather there aren't any carry cases for The PRX range, only slip covers. I got a set of custom made ones from HotCovers, cost around £75.

I've posts pictures on the forum somewhere I think

Shame they are 18" defeats the light & compact idea but I guess they would be fine with a pair of good quality 15" active subs or a compact single sub under the deck stand.

State-side they seem to couple the PRX612M with the QSC KW181 for a more compact offering.
