In the last 12months my laptop has frozen if I pull plug from another device!
I use a Toshiba Tecra A10 on 12cell (6hour) battery.
It is not even connected to the mains so can only presume that some kind of surge is entering the laptop via the mixing desk, through the soundcard and into the laptop via the usb connection.

I first noticed it when I thought I would unplug a light 30secs from the end of the night. Was quite embarrasing. Luckily it was an Oasis track so not too bothered about cutting them off.

It happened 30mins before the end of one show last month... I just quickily jumped onto my back-up laptop so there was only a few seconds of downtime.

Anyone had similar issues?

Sounds plausible.

Have you tried using ground loop isolator(s) on your audio connections?

These will isolate both 'ends' of the circuit from each other and should prevent any nasties such as described.

Got ground-loops but never used them as believed they limit sound quality. Will have to try one. Thanks. Lee
