Hi all,

looking for a small, portable, cheap backup USB digital controller, with inbuilt sound card and mic input, to act as a backup to my denon MC6000 or to use as a second playout device.

Must work with VDJ.

Anyone have any sensible suggestions?

Thanks

I would hardly call a laptop and mouse cheap!

That depends on how much you want to spend .
I got a seller refurbished (in fact it was new but classed as a refurb' as the psu was missing and had to be replaced ?? ) Acer Aspire 5732Z from PC World for £119.
Dual core 2.21MHz Intel CPU / 3gig of ram / 350GB hard drive / Windows 7 64 bit OS.
And a 12 month warranty.

Seek and ye shall find.

Sorry , it was £129 , I paid a tenner for prompt delivery.

You don't have to spend much on a laptop anyway , great deals can be had if you know what you need .

You don't need to spend bundles of cash to get a laptop that will make a fantastic job of what you require from it.

It's another thing though if you want to video mix etc , you need more than basic graphics capabilities to do that with VDJ's latest offerings.

The American Audio DP2 has a built in sound card and is an amazing controller, I actually binned my MC6000 in favour of it and a decent mixer. It works straight out the box with Virtual DJ, I spent many days making a decent mapping for it with Traktor but in my eyes it wipes the floor with any other controller on the market just now. I have never used the internal mixer section as I have it mapped to control other things, I do believe it has a microphone input though.

I quite like the look of the DP2 and have an eBay search watching for one at the right price :)

Confirmation that it is also a great controller is good to hear. Thanks

OK - just to stop the topic wandering..

I have a laptop, I have VDJ, I mix video, Karaoke, Music, I have a Denon MC6000.

All I am looking for is a very small controller, as cheap as chips that can be used as a back up to the Denon MC6000. Can be used sometimes in very small venues for pub quizes and the like that doesn't need the Denon as it is overkill.

It needs to have an inbuilt soundcard, and Mic input.

Just to clarify - are you asking if anyone has one for sale? (if so I'll move this to the Wanted section) or are you only after suggestions for you to look into further? (in which case I'll leave it here).

If you say 'both' it will be moved to Wanted.

HI,

I am looking at suggestions for suitable products.

Something like the Kam Digi One for example.

I Use the mixtrack pro for backup,it has a mic input and built in soundcard but i wouldn't call it a small unit, works straight out of the box with Virtual DJ 7,i'm happy with it for the price :)

I've played with one of these and they're not bad units for the money. The audio path is pretty noisy though (both from inbuilt sound card and external sources) - something I seem to remember people complaining about with the iDJ units?

Still, for £170 quid or so, it wouldn't be a bad choice for a backup.

yes I agree the size is a put off - I have opted for the Kam Digi One - small and compact - plug and go!

Thanks to all the suggestions - appreciated - thank you.

Just as a sideline - A certain dealer in Bristol is offering the Numark Mixtrack Pro unit for £160.00 for NADJ members if you buy today or tomorrow.

I'm considering one for backup (especially at that price) as buying a DJ2Go and a DJIO would cost £120.00 or so
