For some reason my itunes has decided it no longer wants a relationship with my ipad and fails to recognise it

It's an ipad1 and I'm running the latest itunes update. The ipad is recognised by the PC but not itunes.

Any ideas?

I've googled the problem and tried a couple of the fixes but no joy.

This happened to me before, could be one of a few things:

A) Zero battery in the iPad? (Charger it with the wall charger for a while)

B) Restart the iPad (Hold the power and home button for 30 seconds)

C) Failing that, re-install iTunes. (This is the most likely solution)

Also are you running the latest iOS on your ipad?

Battery 51%

B) Restart the iPad (Hold the power and home button for 30 seconds)

Trying that one now ;)

C) Failing that, re-install iTunes. (This is the most likely solution)

Let's hope the other option works first

Also are you running the latest iOS on your ipad?

Good question how do I check that if iTunes isn't recognising it?

On your iPad

Settings > General > About

it will say "Version : X.X"

Settings > General > About

And I've got 4.3.4 which I think is the latest.

Correct. Assuming restarting the iPad didn't work, I think it looks like you may have to re-install iTunes :o

Have you tried switching USB ports? Mine was ok after that.

I love how Apple stuff "just works" :D

Sorry!

Sorry!

It might be something on the laptop that is not 'just working' :D

Indeed, but imho the main suspect is either iTunes or iPad...

The iPad is being recognised by his PC so it's almost certainly not that.

I'd put my life savings on it being iTunes ;)

Well, I gave up last night and went to bed.

Just plugged it in now and shock, gasp! Recognised straight away opened iTunes and it's currently "Syncing" wierdo ipad.

Thanks for the pointers though.

As an edit I'm having to download the latest OS which is 4.3.5 so that may help things a bit.
