Hi Dougie. Is it for editing the filenames on mp3's?
If so, Tag & Rename is what you're looking for.

Or the versatile, inexpensive, and splendid Media Monkey.

You need a text editor that supports regular expressions for search and replace.
I use EditPlus (http://www.editplus.com/index.html), a quick Google also found EditPad Pro (http://www.editpadpro.com/).
For more about regular expressions see http://www.regular-expressions.info/

MP3 Tag Tools is what I tend to use, it will also let you bulk rename a folder of tracks in one go
