Hello!
On recent gigs iv noticed that my sound system has too much top end on it, and doesnt have the big punching bass that i want!

I currently have a 800w 2 channel amp and 2 15" 400w Speaker cabs. I want to add a sub to this but would i have to upgrade my amp? The speakers have ins and outs on them.

Or would it just be easier to chuck them on ebay and get myself a little active package?

Any advice anyone has on this would be great.

Cheers
Charlie

Well if your tops are 8ohm and you bought a pair of 8ohm subs then you could wire a sub and top to each side of the amp in parallel, bringing the load down to 4ohm and so the amp should be ok, depending on its specs.

At the moment, i have a 700w per side (at 4ohm) amp (behringer ep2500).. running 1000w of speakers on each side.. which isn't ideal at all and i could get way more out of the speakers, but its adequate until i can afford to get a second amp and active crossover.

What you could do, is get an active sub and link from the filtered outputs on the sub into your main amp powering the mid/tops.
