Hi folks,

Is it possible or a good idea or maybe even just 'the done thing' to have your lighst on a goal post stand and a star cloth spanning across the goal post to make the posts look concealed and neat?

I ask because on a tight budget I want to buy the Acme Dyanamo lights (x4), goal post stand and maybe a star cloth (which I think is £184 at its cheapest here: http://www.jpleisure.co.uk/item3145.htm). If I can use the same goal post for the lights and cloth, that would be great!

Thanks for your thoughts...

Jay

I cant get the link to work.
BUT from looking here http://www.djstore.co.uk/cgi-bin/item.pl?&item=prostar05 my answer would be no you can't..
IMHO i don't see why you need the posts to be concealed.. I can't really picture the 'need' in my head.

You COULD go for something like this http://www.djstore.co.uk/cgi-bin/item.pl?&item=prostar04

The reason I would say that you can't is because if the cloth went all the way up then I would say that the lights would touch the cloth and there would be a fire risk.. I know I wouldn't do it..

But maybe others have more knowledge of using lights and starclothes.. :)

Jay,

I have seen it done this way a couple of years ago, but using an S&H starcloth. It was very effective.

It's all about setting the set.... I am trying to make the dj area look as clutter free, clean and professional as possible.

Through out my research of various disco websites, I have seen from galleries that a lot of the sets look messy and unprofessional. The DJ we had for our wedding had an amzing set up and so he should at £2k for the gig! No cables were on show, no mess and the entire stage looked symetrical.

Thus my idea being that if I could use the star cloth and acme lights on the same goal posts, it makes for a cleaner dj area without the need for another extra stand :)

No.. sorry lol!
Its just that well you would still have cables from your sound equipment etc .. although actually im sure it would be fantastic.. I just can't picture it.. and would be worried about fire risk or what have you..
Ill shut up.:)

Indian weddings/receptions generally have anything from 500 to 1500 guests. Our party had 1000. We asked the DJ for thump, our names in lights, lasers, plasma screens, fireworks, confetti bombs, playback of a clip from a laptop, 7pm to 12.30am at The Novotel Hotel... What a party!!!!!

Ah, it all becomes clear!

I've heard that Indian weddings can have a few more people than your average one! :)

I'm a bit confused, surely if you hang a star cloth from your truss, there is no where left for you to stand.....??

If you want to go for this, I would suggest having your goal post up you underneath it, then have a star cloth behind you.

OK, so you're reccomending that I set up like this, in which case I will need a stand for the lights and a seperate one for the cloth?:
